Game of Thrones was famous for mounting big battle scenes: the Battle of the Bastards was fought between two armies, Stannis besieged the city of King's Landing in the Battle of the Blackwater, Daenerys Targaryen rode in on her dragon for the Loot Train Attack, and so on. One kind of battle we didn't get to see was a ship-vs-ship naval battle, give or take a scene from season 7 where Euron Greyjoy boarded a boat and kidnapped his niece. Prequel series House of the Dragon will change that with the Battle of the Gullet, a major action set piece drawn from the pages of George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood.
At the end of House of the Dragon season 2, Tyland Lannister was successful in recruiting the pirate captain Sharako Lohar to lead their fleet into battle on behalf of King Aegon II Targaryen, who's currently fighting his half-sister Rhaenyra for the Iron Throne.

It seems we can expect to see the Guardians of the Universe and (possibly) the Sinestro Corps in the upcoming Dcu Lanterns series.
While being interviewed about her new series, Deli Boys, Poorna Jagannathan spoke about what excites her most about the show, and in her enthusiasm, may have given away a little more than she realized.
"I couldn't have loved the writing for Green Lantern more. Like Deli Boys, the Green Lantern series is extraordinarily well written and my character is extraordinarily well-built. And also, the way I can describe all the characters. We have all the characters we know and love... the Lanterns, the Guardians, Sinestros, and that world is still intact and everyone is presented as heroes and villains at the same time. And that's what makes the writing so complex, layered and so wonderful."

Over the past decade, many Star Wars fans have been waiting for Lucasfilm to bring more Legends (or Expanded Universe) characters into the current canon. They've already done this with Grand Admiral Thrawn -- in books, animated series, and live-action. Could they do this soon with more characters like Mara Jade?
According to a new rumor, Lucasfilm could be working on a new show focused on Mara Jade. The character first appeared in Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire book trilogy and went on to appear in dozens of other books after that. The character remained a vital part of others' stories even after her untimely death.
When Disney acquired Lucasfilm and its intellectual properties, the decision was made to end the then-current continuity of storytelling in the "Expanded Universe," and begin a new continuity labeled Canon. This meant that everything but the films -- books, video games, comics,...

If pronounced correctly in Italian, "Parthenope" is a gorgeous four-syllable name to match the eponymous character's resounding beauty in acclaimed filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino's new feature. A little homework reveals that the name is synonymous with Naples and belongs to a fallen Siren in Greek mythology and tragedy, whose vocals couldn't fit the bill in seducing the iconic Odysseus once upon a time. In effect, it's reasonable to suspect the award-winning Italian director's new drama might be a tragedy of sorts.
Maybe you've watched A24's promotional trailer for Parthenope a dozen times to fully grasp lead actress Celeste Dalla Porta's unparalleled beauty, something which often leads to suffering. The thoughtful but troubled character is the central focus in this life-spanning journey which overfills Parthenope's sprawling 137-minute duration.
Sorrentino's latest unabashedly Italian feature feels a lot like The Great Beauty, even if it falls short of his 2013 masterpiece more often than not.

Today we are going to dissect David Lynch; a dealer of dreams, a merchant of mysteries and moods, a fanciful gentleman with a great wave on his head, and above all, an artist who never shies away from showing hideousness of human nature. In this session, we will focus on integral organs of the Lynchian body. This is going to be bloody, and when I say bloody, I mean it. If you are squeamish, I reckon you should stop right here, ‘cause I don’t want my room stinkin’ with your barf, that’s for sure. But if you want to peep into something you shouldn’t be seeing, if you want to say hello to the mystery man, in short, if you’re a true fan of Lynch, jump like a rabbit and enter the Red Room where my dog barks some.

Lead single “It’s a Mirror” features a propulsive folk-rock arrangement under Hadreas’ voice as he sings about internal conflicts and longing for freedom: “What do I get out of being established?/I still run and hide when a man’s at the door.”

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, when factoring in the Netflix era of shows like Daredevil and Luke Cage, had more than enough in the way of characters, Easter eggs, and villains. But one of its achievements was the introduction of the villainous Hand. The tease of the organization was all the range when they first popped up in the universe, and it led to a massive team-up series, Defenders, which was the street-level answer to the Avengers and united Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Unfortunately, the miniseries was more of a missed opportunity by the last episode due to how poorly it handled its greatest treat.

Things are going to get very interesting for Nate in the coming weeks. The Young and the Restless introduced Valarie Pettiford to the scene as Amy Lewis, who is searching high and low for Damian. Soon, they’ll get assistance from Detective Denise Tolliver when Telma Hopkins returns to the show.
Welcome Return
In the lead-up to the drama, Soap She Knows snagged an interview with Hopkins to discuss what’s to come for her character. “Denise is who she is. She’s an investigator. She’s nosy. She’s got the best job in the world, and now she can get in everybody’s business legally. She doesn’t have to sneak around like she used to do.”
More: See who else is showing up soon in Genoa City.
Not only will this bring Denise into Nate’s (Sean Dominic) orbit but it gives Half & Half fans a reunion years in the making.

The villains of the Marvel Cinematic Universe often pale in comparison to their comic counterparts in terms of power, lacking some of their most incredible abilities from the source material. The MCU has often been criticized for their supposed Marvel villain problem, frequently struggling to craft meaningful antagonists outside a handful of standout characters. One small aspect of this issue has been the overall power level of Marvel villains, which ranges from godly to laughably inconsequential.
Throughout the movies of the MCU, most Marvel villains don't possess straight-up superpowers, with most relying on technology or meticulous planning to threaten heroes instead. In the rare instances they do have superhuman abilities, they typically start and stop with typical enhancements like super strength, super speed, and enhanced reflexes, indicative of the McU's many copies of Captain America's super soldier serum. Meanwhile, the extended history of the comics allow for greater exploration...

Jon Bernthal ducked out of "The Walking Dead" at the right time (the end of season 2). He stayed on long enough to prove his talent without winding up tied down to the show. Of the series' original main cast, Bernthal has also had easily the most prolific film and television career since.
One of his most popular roles was in another comic book-based television series: Frank Castle/The Punisher on "Daredevil," and then a two season "Punisher" spin-off. Bernthal's Punisher is easily the highlight of "Daredevil" season 2; the season suffers whenever it pivoted to the less compelling Elektra/Hand storyline (Elodie Yung never steals a scene like Bernthal does). Even with the controversies surrounding the Punisher character, Marvel Studios has chosen to bring Bernthal back for revival series "Daredevil: Born Again." Welcome back, Frank!
In a funny coincidence, Bernthal is not the only "Walking Dead" alum to have played the Punisher.

A core aspect of Star Wars has always been lightsaber duels. From humble beginnings in A New Hope to the modern duels in the Disney+ live-action Star Wars TV shows, lightsaber duels have changed and developed in many ways over the years. Which of these lightsaber duels, in Star Wars' nearly 50-year history, is the best?
In order to determine this, it's important to look at all the aspects of a great lightsaber duel, and how they stack up against each other. Fight choreography is, of course, incredibly important, but so is the narrative significance, setting, score and cinematography. Considering all of that, here are the top 15 live-action lightsaber battles, ranked from worst to best.

Game of Thrones cut A Song of Ice and Fire's biggest Targaryen twist (so far) when it didn't include Young Griff, aka Aegon Targaryen, but it was the right choice for the series. George R.R. Martin's books are full of characters and plot lines that didn't factor into the HBO TV show and, of course, his novels were infamously overtaken en route to Game of Thrones' ending. All of these deviations had a ripple effect, including the choice not to include Aegon.
In the books, it's revealed that Aegon Targaryen, son of Rhaegar, is still alive when Tyrion sails on a ship with him in A Dance with Dragons. In Game of Thrones, this story doesn't happen and Aegon/Young Griff is never introduced, and the entire storyline is pretty much cut. That may have been a disappointment for some book readers but, given where the show was headed...

It’s certainly not uncommon for filmmakers to tell autobiographical stories in their work, such as how Steven Spielberg has used dinosaurs, aliens, ancient Biblical relics and aliens a few more times to process his parents’ divorce.
One movie that most people likely don’t tend to think of as autobiographical is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. After all, it’s not like any of the Pythons ever survived any bovine catapult attacks or bloodthirsty bunny rabbit skirmishes.
But an autobiographical reading of The Holy Grail has just been floated — and not by some unhinged fan, but by Eric Idle.
In a new interview with The New Yorker, Idle chatted about a number of different topics, including his apparent financial difficulties, and the state of his relationship with fellow Python John Cleese. But much of the discussion was focused on Idle’s upcoming tour, as well as his newest book,...

As the newly appointed Hand of the King, Criston Cole leads an army to Rook's Rest with a trick up his sleeve. Due to Criston Cole's lack of experience and oversight, the mission doesn't go as planned for the Greens. Criston Cole's first failure reflects his incompetence as Hand of the King in a grave time for the Targaryens.
The following contains spoilers for House of the Dragon Season 2, Episode 4, which premiered Sunday, July 7 on HBO.
The Blacks and Greens have both lost their first fighters on House of the Dragon in the Battle at Rook's Rest. What was conceived as a sneaky scheme to lure the Blacks into a trap turned into an improvised plan that presumably cost the life of Aegon II Targaryen. The main person to blame for this? Aegon's newly appointed Hand of the King, Ser Criston Cole.
Criston has certainly risen the ranks rather quickly as a commoner.

The Harry Potter books foreshadow Draco's Half-Blood Prince plan in Chamber of Secrets. Draco's foreshadowing in the Borgin & Burkes scene is subtle and unexpected. The series has numerous well-planned foreshadowing moments, not just Draco's.
When I first read them, the Harry Potter books constantly kept me guessing, but even better, they foreshadowed exactly what was to come, and Draco Malfoy is the perfect example. With a series as long and complex as Harry Potter, foreshadowing is a necessity. Harry's journey from unlikely boy wizard to hero would not have been as exciting without some hints at what was to come. To me, foreshadowing offers a way for the story to come full circle. When it comes to the Harry Potter books, this happens countless times, but sometimes the subtler detail is the better one.
Another benefit of Harry Potter is that it doesn't just shine a light on its protagonists.
