Summary
Reviewers say 'Culpa Mía' delves into forbidden love, family dynamics, and teenage rebellion, set against wealth and privilege. Praised for lead chemistry, action sequences, and romance, it faces criticism for clichés, unrealistic plot points, and exaggerated characters. Some find it entertaining and a good time-pass, while others call it poorly constructed and cringeworthy. The film's portrayal of taboo relationships and its comparison to franchises like 'After' spark debate.

As with a lot of romanced based on book adaptations at times the dialogue was cringy and some scenes were entirely unrealistic or moved a bit fast but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! The two leads have great chemistry together and definitely kept my attention! If you're a fan of After this would be right up your alley. I think the story is a bit tidier than the After franchise is as well... not as much unnecessary back and forth fighting. I was more invested than I was in the After movies as well. I feel if you like this genre it's definitely worth a watch and doesn't deserve the negative reviews it's received.
If you judge the film with the criteria for piece of life dramas, it is definitely lacking. Because it is made of fairy-tales stuff. It is Cinderella, moving from shambles to a palace, where she meets a benevolent king and a Prince Charming. It is about a girl, beating hard-core men at their own game - drift driving. It is about the bad boy with a golden heart. About Red Riding Hood, saved by Prince Charming and the Hunter from the Big Bad Wolf. And most of all, about romantic love. The film is made fairly competently, it is dynamic and there wasn't a dull moment. The lead actors wouldn't be remembered for subtlety and nuance, but they are definitely good-looking and have a palpable chemistry. Don't judge and expect too much and you can actually enjoy it.
My fault is the newest Spanish teen-drama romance that feels like a mixture of Through my Window, Three Steps Above Heaven and Fast and Furious.
Noah is upset with her mother as she has to leave her boyfriend and friends and move in with her mother's new rich husband and his son Nick. Nick is a typical bad boy turns good boy, and their romance is a typical forbidden step-sibling relationship surrounded by gangsters, wannabes and rich kid problems.
The storyline is far from realistic, the dialogue is quite dull, but there is chemistry between the actors and it is entertaining enough. At least it was for me, but it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

It really isn't that bad, especially if you're trying to relax after a long day. Just by reading the decription you get a hint what kind of movie it is.
I didn't expect some extraordinary plot, dialogue or characters. I knew it would be cheesy and cirnge and that is exactly what I needed in that moment.
It's not a masterpiece and I'm glad it isn't. This movie is my 'culpa mia' :D just like watching After.
I mean, this movie screams 'red flag' but it is just too unrealistic and I can't even identify myself with it, so I just watch it and daydream.
Put all expectations aside and enjoy in this teen love drama.

Watching this movie felt like I had just randomly grabbed a new release from the romance section and started reading. The opening scenes set up nothing but cliched tropes with what seemed to be stock characters and overdone situations. Except that this story ended up being really entertaining anyway. Noah and Nick act like characters that are written instead of real teens, until they suddenly don't. I actually kind of believed that they had reasons they would end up liking each other. Instead of groaning about how they were just thrown together for the sake of the plot, I ended up caring about their relationship working out. I didn't want anything bad to happen to them, and I wasn't counting the minutes until they were off the screen. Now, the third act climax deflated much of that feeling when we get a standard action movie finale, but once it all wraps up, I was back to wanting to see the couple succeed. I don't think I would even mind a sequel, which they seemed to be planning based on the last lines of the film. I am sure that there will be a lot of people who will watch this movie who won't get caught up in the story like I allowed myself to--some viewers will just focus on the flaws, which would be easy to do. But for anyone just looking for lighter-than-air entertainment, you might have the right mindset for this one.
