... flawed by nature but excellently made

This is a learned and very well put together demolition job on communism and especially Soviet communism and the Soviet empire. Practically everything that is imputed here to the Soviet bloc and the ideology of that bloc could be equally said about the British Empire the American Empire the French Empire the Spanish Empire there is absolutely no difference

At some point they accuse Stalin of moving Ethnic populations willy-nilly leading later on to bloody nationalist uprisings. This is factually accurate but can also be levelled at Belgium England France etc etc

but this is made by Arte the intellectual organ of EU France and Germany now also available in Polish Spanish Italian English.

Their mission statement although not always clearly spelt out (that would be giving the game away ) is to prop up the neoliberal values and globalist edicts of Brussels and Strasbourg.

I personally watch many programs from ARTE current affairs documentaries and films too.

The intellectual level is always very high quality always excellent as it is here but one must never forget that the values which underpin all of this are firmly rooted in globalism neoliberalism and European federalism which is the flavour of Brussels.

Here you have marvellous footage in episode four for example you have a young woman in Berlin whose father is a Russian from the Communist generation one of the makers of this a man called Nekrasov and she basically pretends to be interacting in an open letter asking questions which are supposed to be unbiased and ingenuous.

The truth is they are just the result of a young woman having been brought up in hypercapitalist Berlin with values 180° away from a socialist or communist society ... she is basically here the spokesperson for ARTE and its values

So the Latin saying goes caveat emptor be extremely careful what you are buying/ watching; it is extremely well put together I will give it a very high rating but I am fully aware of where it came from and what's its purpose is in making sure that the viewer has no love empathy or true comprehension of what an egalitarian society is aiming for albeit this never was arrived at behind the Iron Curtain ... far from it

The aim of the program is to firm up the aforementioned values of globalism capitalism European integration and the superiority of the Western model; it is therefore flawed by nature but excellently made ... although totally devoid of balance or objectivity ... it is ultimately a Western puff piece.
