"Love at First Sight" was much better than I was expecting given its title and status as a Netflix movie. Mostly because it embraced being a low-budget romance and focused heavily on the characters instead of wasting time on drama / bad 'action' scenes like most romance movies do.
However it is still held back by an over reliance on convoluted situations moving the plot forward (batteries dying at the last second, broken seat belts, etc), a weak soundtrack (the 'I Want to Dance with Somebody' remix was especially awful), and mediocre editing. The film also drifts a bit too deep into 'realism' at times (with uncharismatic dialogue and characters) and can get awkward. And it may just be me but Jameela Jamil's role as 'Providence' was reminiscent of Quilty in Lolita, which was a bit unsettling (the statistics dumps were also mind-numbing).
Overall, 'Love at First Sight' is a decent movie that could be been better if some more thought had been put into it.

I am actually super surprised by how good this movie was. It was a very good rom com from Netflix, I went in thinking it would be very cheesy. It was really good with some very sad parts. Haley Lu was really good in the movie and had really great chemistry with the male lead which made it a very believable story for me. The story line was overall very cute but keep those tissues nearby I know I had to for sure! Overall, it's a life I wish I was living (fate love story with a British man). It will be a movie I will keep in my roster when I'm looking for a good rom com on a rainy day! If you made it this far, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
And that's how you write a romantic movie that's different from all the predictable ones full of useless drama... I mean, the end is of course obvious but it does not make it less enjoyable.
It's a cute romantic movie, definitely not a waste of time, with well written dialogues, and the two protagonist gosh... how could you not fall in love with them, they're just too sweet! The chemistry between them was undeniable!
Haley Lu Richardson is such a good and underrated actress, she should have more credit.
A really nice and sweet movie that doesn't only focused on the romantic plot line between the main characters but also engaged through the other plots of the families of the protagonists.

There's no sort of twist in here you just go with the flow where you know the ending goal will be. The journey is what makes it good. It's simple, direct, and wholesome. No wishy washy drama. It has a quiet tone to it. It's like looking at a fire while huddled in your blanket and drinking your cocoa for the thousand time.
I was touched by a certain part of the plot since I can very much relate to it and I thought it was done quite well. The acting is believable. The song helped move it along.
The main characters are nice and sweet. Their lines were heavily dosed on cheesiness partnered with good chemistry and overall everything just screamed wholesome and fluffy...which really that's all I ask for when I'm strapped in my cheesy rom com mood.

Just a sweet, well made rom com. I haven't seen anything like this in a while. I tend to watch a lot edgier films. But every once in a while it's a nice break to watch something that's a bit on the predictable side.
I thought the acting was above average. I especially like the fact the the female lead wasn't over the top beautiful. She was charming and had a girl-nextt-door quality. I'm a guy so I couldn't tell you if the male lead was handsome or not. But overall, I thought all the stars were quite good.
If you're in the mood for something that's fairly predictable, give this one a shot. You won't be disappointed.

- GoofsLuther describes his van several times as a Sprinter, which is made by Mercedes. When the van is finally seen, it is clearly a Ford Transit van. When Hadley first meets Luther, he even says again "it's a Sprinter", yet the "Transit" name on the door of the van is prominently in the centre of the frame.
