This is one of the most ridiculous movies I have tried to watch. The plot is choppy and acting is not great to say the least. Nothing in this film felt relatable. This is no hallmark or lifetime Christmas special that's cheesy yet heartwarming. It appears as if the developers of this film gave us the bare minimum of what it takes to produce a romantic family style holiday movie, but everything in between was very lacking. The characters are not dynamic and they have no real background and we sort of don't get to know who these people are throughout the entire film. This is just bad, bad writing with horrible acting. I usually expect very little from this sort of genre, but this film didn't even give me that.
I like the cheesy "I need a fiance/fiancee for a holiday" plot line. My favorite one is "My Fake Fiance" with Melissa Joan Hart. I like watching two people come up with this terrible idea for convenience, but end up falling in love for real. This movie, unfortunately, falls flat. The acting is wooden, the setting feels inauthentic, the writing is terrible and where is the character development? There's one character who just kind of appears to suddenly have all this knowledge about one of the MCs. How? Why? Don't know. What seemed like a good idea on paper, doesn't translate to the screen. Don't waste your time with this one, go watch a better hallmarkish type of movie instead.
It's not cute to fall in love with your bully. The MC has no redeeming qualities. He was abusive. He was horrendous to everybody up until the very end. He did not seem to change at all. He could tell everybody off except his parents. The love confession came out of no where and in my opinion that whole subplot should have been left out. I was as shocked by that love confession as the lead looked. When did he have time to fall in love with all the yelling he was doing. They didn't have a moment to bond. It was very strange. The acting was terrible except for Jennifer. I didn't get any holiday feels at all.
Did I roll my eyes several times? Yes. Did the ending make sense? No. Did it transcend the Christmas romance genre? Absolutely not. Actually, the romance kind of took a backseat to the restaurant story, probably to the movie's benefit. I mostly liked the cast of characters, and while little screen time was given to the budding romance, there was some good chemistry at the few moments it was given. I do wish they had given the two a couple more scenes together before the pivotal moment to make the resolution more believable.
I wouldn't go out of my way to watch this, but if this is what you're in the mood for, it'll pass the time pleasantly.

I love myself a good, old-fashioned, cheesy, Christmas rom-com. This was not it. I tried to let things slide but then the movie quickly slid away. The fiancé bit lasted 10 minutes and never played into the storyline again. There was no order or sense to the plot. The villain was the lamest villain I've ever seen and their "payback" was juvenile at best. More time was spent on a montage of Christmas decorating than on the character development. This was more of a "women can do it too" movie than a romance. The final act came out of left field and felt like an after-thought's after-thought. But, kudos to them for trying.
