The review from taniqeb "A film not to walk away from" is about a good a review as you will get. Accurate and honest. So I won't add more, other than to say this is a great film that really hits the spot, a film I will won't forget. Ignore the negative reviews here, this is an excellent film from start to finish.
I saw this film at a screening via a movie meetup group. I was surprised at how much I loved this film. It's very dark and there are harrowing, depressing moments, but in the midst of it they managed to throw in bits of humor. And whoever did the cinematography should win an award. The aesthetics were both bleak and vivid. I think they also had an original score. In addition to the original score being perfect for the film itself, the sound track for the film was perfect. And the leitmotif throughout the movie is poignant and really captures the different moods of every scene. I don't want to give away plot points, but it's amazing what this film was able to accomplish, and this film should be a known one.
My first review on imdb. Why for this particular movie? Because after watching it with my nephew, who is disabled, like myself, we were both very disappointed and a tad offended.
When the main protagonist meets Drake, the movie is fun and wild. Drugs, guns, girls. We get some flashbacks that are a part of the final "twist", which is some psychological BS. Which is fine, except whoever wrote this probably never heard of muscular atrophy. Even this aside, the ending is kinda selfish on the part of the main character.
8 for the first part and Drake, whose story and motives were better suited as the base of the movie.
3 for the ending and surprise revelation.

Drugs, prostitutes, suicide and a cute little bunny. I have seen tons of indie films this year and this is the one that grabbed me. Wheels is gritty, raw and and is so well done on so many levels. The score for the film is so fantastic and Mickey's fading memory was captured so very well. DO NOT MISS THIS FILM! This movie hooks you with great underwater darkness and by the time it's over, you feel like you have been hit over the head with reality. There's a true essence of pain that prevails through the end of the film and when it's all said and done, you walk out feeling the pain of a man who has been through hell to find himself on the other side.
A touching and often funny deep dive into the lives of a group of people with barely the resources to survive being homeless in Los Angeles. Two wheel-chair friends decide to pair up and share the burdens of their mental, emotional, and physical pain, limitations, and suffering. Finding comfort in anything they can reach for from their chairs, they do all they can to stave off an impending knowledge that they simply do not fit in society, and the sooner they come to terms with that, the sooner society can be finally rid of them. Once their greatest fears are met full on, we see the beauty and frailty in life they had so long ago lost faith in.
