Trying to look at this through the lenses of a good script and good cinatorgaphy etc and you're going to hate it!
If you watch it to escape the news and outside noise and think of it like a Hallmark movie then your fine.
It's a very predictable storyline. There are ridiculous scene changes with dramatic rain all of a sudden, make not feel soap opera y. But the scenery is nice and it's lovely to have a bilingual movie introducing the world to Catalonia.
Enjoy that part of you're looking for a silly escape. Don't try to focus on the other things that make this a made for tv movie style. It's a filler for the network I'm sure. I don't think anyone in production expected this to win an award.

Watched the first two episodes this week and both my husband and I are loving it. It's light, funny, clever and has gorgeous scenery. And having the show be in both English and (primarily) Spanish gives it real sense of authenticity. And I'm confused about the viewers who have a problem with the language choices, since Apple has been advertising this as a bilingual show from the beginning.
The cast are all great, Eva Longoria is as entertaining as ever and Santiago Cabrera is always a delight to watch in anything.
Pour yourself a glass of red and get swept away in the scenery and the sense of family and community.

The role of her daughter was just not convincing for me and her voice kept cracking. She was super snippy and not seasoned enough to carry the show with Eva. The dynamic was not there with this trio, I found it not funny. I need to be convinced of kinship and these casted roles were too far fetched with no dynamics. I love Eva in Desperate House Wives (all sorts of dynamics there) and that is why I tuned into this show. The show did not meet my expectations, this show actually turned me off. I could not get past the first episode and Im bilingual so I understood every word. Perhaps known and proven actors along side her in this role would have propelled the energy significantly.
With all the Networks only 10% is worth watching or something to mark in your diary. This was a good series. It was funny it was thoughtful in fact a bit of everything, but no explosions or guns. Eva Longoria set the stage and was great, carmen Maura in her 80's kept everyone guessing with her past antics and Santiago Cabrera was he Kevin Kline in the 21st Century version of French Kiss. So, ok a remake with adjustments from Meg Ryan's film but great to watch. And why stop so suddenly with no second series. Come on Apple move away from cinema people find ok and get out there and make people smile without a death somewhere.
This was fun!!! I knew right off the bat that this would be super predictable and might even get boring but I did enjoy it very much. At first I faked getting invested in the plot but by the end I was actually on the edge of my seat and the drama and humor really got to me. With this being so predictable it made an easy watch for days where you just want to think less and have a chill time. This definitely could have all been wrapped up with two more episodes instead of teasing a complete second season (I think there are at least three open plot lines) but I will come back for the second season if there's one being made!
