    Box of Tricks

This is a continuation of a story about the Jedi trying to foil a plot to kidnap Chancellor Palpatine. Here Count Dooku gets bounty hunter Eval to carry out a challenging series of games to select the best bounty hunters for the kidnap mission. Obi Wan is disguised as one of the bounty hunters and is trying to gain trust and a place in the team so he can foil the plan.

The quality in entertainment, characters and drama is high throughout this whole storyline. Although on the face of it this is a very simple episode of a series of challenges, the plot behind it is actually complex:

It is shown in these episodes that Palpatine is manipulating situations to create mistrust and division between Anakin and the Jedi and is seemingly somewhat deceiving Dooku at the same time. It is all complex and labyrinthine which is a good, clever thing as long as it doesn't end up not making sense. The complex and clever plot does make sense because the idea is that they are trying to demonstrate Palpatine is a target of the Separatists to hide that he is actually the power behind them and they are also sowing seeds of mistrust between the Jedi and especially Anakin. That all adds layers of quality to the overall story.

These are enjoyable episodes with deeper, ambitious themes which makes them strong episodes. I feel the games here were sort of unnecessary plot-wise and purely added for fun but it is very entertaining with a fun bunch of cool bounty hunter characters.

    My rating: 8.5/10.

Like a bounty hunter game show

Continuing the obi-wan in disguise arc, the top bounty hunters of the galaxy compete in something like a sadistic game show where they could all die. It makes for an entertaining episode and is great to watch.

    A barberic contest!

This is quite possibly the best Bounty hunter episode of the series, as it puts their skills and character, to the test! I am surprised it is not a 9 at least! Top 3 og this season! The episode is unique and tension is felt from start to finish! The design of The box is also very memorable! Overall i enjoyed this arc with Obi Wan going undercover ass a Bounty hunter! Just as unique and creative as this episode!

One of the best clone wars episodes!

This episode has a very intriguing premise. Multiple bounty hunters compete to survive in a mechanical labyrinth. The cast of characters is also very interesting, as we meet old and new bounty hunters, including Boba Fett, Cad Bane, and Embo. The simplistic plot is what helps make this a great episode, along with the fast pacing.

    • Trivia
Kiera Swan is a nod to Keira Knightley's Elizabeth Swann character from The Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Her accolade, "two-time winner of the Obsidian Sphere" is presumably a championship, but the name actually derives from the Black Pearl, Jack Sparrow's pirate ship. Knightly played Padme's body double, Sabé, in Star Wars, épisode I : La Menace fantôme (1999). Her name was misspelled "Kiera" in the credits.
    • Goofs
Cad Bane has been previously shown to require a special apparatus in order to breathe in an oxygenated atmosphere. The apparatus is missing in this story, yet he suffers no ill consequences.

Narrator: Obi-Wan Kenobi in disguise! Working undercover as assassin Rako Hardeen, Obi-Wan leads a secret mission to uncover the Separatist plot against Chancellor Palpatine. Using cunning and courage, he gains the trust of bounty hunter Cad Bane and criminal mastermind Moralo Eval, earning him entrance to the stronghold of Separatist leader, Count Dooku. Now it is here, on the beautiful planet of Serenno, that a barbaric contest will determine the fate of Obi-Wan Kenobi and possibly, the Republic itself.
