Has Whitney decided to start channeling Nikki Glaser? Let's face it: Raunchy, low-brow comedy has become so common as to become tedious. I have no problem with raunchy, but when it is delivered without a grain of clever, it's just boring. Whitney can do better. This was a groan and a yawn.
I feel like this was some kind of rebound-revenge special following her broken engagement. The first 20 minutes were especially rough...
Whitney, you're better than this. Cute boots though.

So she's pretending not to be woke making fun of woke things? So many not funny or cringey parts... the whole thing has a weird vibe. Lots of jokes about her being super old but she's in her late 30s and still looks great so it really just doesn't work. Just very disappointing because she definitely can be funny, I've heard her on rogan and actually enjoyed the podcast.
Zero stars. I don't know what else to say. She isn't funny and this isn't comedy. This might have been the worst "comedy" special I've ever seen. Filler.
I prefer the old Whitney where she would only yell the punchline - so that we knew where the funny was. It was like her own personal version of an applause sign and a laugh track. But now, she starts out yelling and mugging. Sadly, comedy specials seem to be rife with this now: Iliza Schlessinger, Kevin Hart, etc. Some people like to refer to them as being 'high energy' but it's just exhausting and it seems to be a tool and a tactic to use when the material isn't really there. This is what Robin Williams did for years and everybody was fooled by it. But go back and watch it now and you'll realize it was all a smokescreen. You're better off watching the latest Bill Burr special. Or Tig Notaro's last special.
