We had to watch this film, which was a great disappointment, with astonishment.
I unfortunately classify Gülse Birsel's film, which we were waiting for with great expectations, as the worst film I have seen this year.
I'm amazed that so many good actors accepted to such a scenario. It was far below expectations.
A pointless scenario with irrelevant themes chasing each other. For us, it was a complete waste of time.
There was not a single scene where we laughed. It's very sad, and I hope we never watch such a disappointing scenario again. Humor was a long way from this movie................

Gulse Birsel, one of the notable names of contemporary Turkish comedy made a new year's eve movie definitely worth watching. The movie is very good since it presents Gulse Birsel's humor but in a more critical sense. The movie brings stark criticisms towards contemporary Turkish society and the aura of Turkish politics through the characters that come together incidentally in a new year's eve night celebration during a Covid-19 lockdown. Those well-played characters are people who we know from our lives. In today's Turkey, Gulse Birsel made a blunt, political yet a naive comedy which we missed. The crew, the characters they play and the acting is also very good, except the lack of chemistry between Fatih Aritman and Sebnem Bozoklu.
I found the film tragicomic and watched it (especially the last 20 minutes) in tears instead of cheer.
Though the themes such as how the political correctness shows itself in the secular Turkish society and how the youth coming from different intellectual and sociological background deal with the moral issues were worked out with humor, that did not suffice to overcome the despair of the upper class family overall. The discontent of the family, who is throwing the party, has never been resolved from the beginning to the end.
Overall the aim of the film of giving hope and joy regarding of the name "new year's eve" has not been achieved.

Im glad to see Im not the only one whos disappointed After Aile Arasnda I was hoping Glse Birsel would make me go to the cinema for a Turkish comedy film However it was difficult complete to this movie without getting bored even at home
I didnt like to leave it unfinished so I finished the movie but the other family members fell asleep
The movie gives off a forced feeling both with its jokesthe feeling that something is going to happen at any moment in the sequences it doesntand with its acting performances in general Except for a few small scenes you cannot empathize with the character and miss their positive and negative experiences The lines are mostly unrealistic and feel like they havent been given much attention
It was a pity for me who thought that he would watch a really good movie I hope we can see a development in a different direction in the next films.
Haters are gonna hate...
Gulse Birsel has a different path when compared with the other writers, she is a good observer and knows how to reflect Turkish streotypes to the movie. Yilbasi Gecesi (New Year's Eve) is perfect example which contains different characters from different cultures in Turkey.
I laughed a lot and additonally I felt a lot. Please ignore the haters and trolls. Even If you do not have sense of humour, the movie is still worth watching. Conflicts, dialoges, metamorphosis... All is awesome, I love this movie a lot like all other Gulse's works. If you like this movie, you can also love aile arasinda as well.
