Dark Winds is on AMC+'s most-viewed top ten this week. A crime drama at its core, the TV show's masterful blend of procedural, noir, Western, mystery, and even supernatural elements appeals to a broader fan base.
AMC's Dark Winds has ranked sixth on the streaming platform's top ten list (per FlixPatrol). The Western drama is up two spots, outpacing Black Snow and Fallen this week. Dark Winds wrapped up Season 3 in April, its fourth season already greenlit. Echoing the tone and themes of cult favorites like Breaking Bad, True Detective, The X-Files, and even Twin Peaks, Dark Winds transcends the modern Western genre, its narrative explored from a distinctly Native American perspective.

Netflix has commenced production on a series adaptation of Miles Franklin’s seminal Australian novel “My Brilliant Career,” with filming underway at Adelaide Studios and various South Australian locations.
The streaming giant is partnering with Jungle Entertainment on the period drama, which marks a fresh take on Franklin’s 1901 coming-of-age tale that captured the aspirations of young Australian women seeking independence and self-determination.
Set in rural Australia at the turn of the 20th century, the series follows Sybylla Melvyn, a spirited and ambitious young woman who dreams of literary fame and refuses to conform to the limited expectations placed upon women of her era. Born into a struggling farming family, Sybylla must navigate the constraints of her social circumstances while pursuing her artistic ambitions and grappling with questions of love, duty, and personal fulfillment. Her journey becomes a bold assertion of female independence in a society that offers few options beyond marriage and motherhood.

Michael Bay's filmography is certainly full of highs and lows, with many seeing the director as nothing more than a lover of mindless explosive action. Well, perhaps the peak of such mindless explosive action came in 1998 with the release of Armageddon, the tale of a hotshot crew's attempt to prevent an asteroid from destroying the Earth by drilling into its surface and detonating a nuclear bomb. Sure, the premise might be far-fetched, but audiences loved it, with the film receiving a strong 73% rating from viewers on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
27 years later, and Armageddon is still proving a huge hit, with the big-budget blockbuster officially becoming one of the 10 most-streamed titles on AMC+ as of June 10, 2025. Alongside titles such as Dark Winds, The Surrender, Black Snow, and Scrublands, Armageddon has failed to hit the top of the streamer's charts thanks to the continued popularity of The Walking Dead: Dead City,...

Whether you’re catching up or starting fresh, these picks are all killer, no filler.
AMC+ has always had a bit of a niche vibe — like the cool, slightly darker corner of the streaming world. It’s not trying to compete with the endless catalogs of Netflix or Hulu, but that’s kind of the point. What it does have is a killer lineup of darker, off-beat shows – including really solid AMC+ originals. Whether you’re into crime thrillers, slow-burn horror, or just want something a little more off the beaten path, there’s some seriously great TV tucked into this service. So if you haven’t browsed AMC+ lately, here are seven of the best shows to stream right now.
Top 7 TV shows streaming on AMC+ right now:
No. 7: ‘Sherlock’
No. 6: ‘Interview with the Vampire’
No. 5: ‘Black Snow’
No. 4: ‘Hannibal’
No. 3: ‘Dead City’

ABC’s The $100,000 Pyramid has been firing on all cylinders this season, with compelling guest stars such as Chandra Wilson and Joel McHale.
The next episode will switch things up with comedy legends Bobby Moynihan and Mark Duplass going head-to-head.
But who will come out on top?
((Disney/Christopher Willard))
We’re not spoiling that, but ABC was kind enough to share an exclusive first look at the episode.
There’s always plenty of humor on The $100,000 Pyramid, and we can always count on host Michael Strahan to give some animated reactions to the events.
((Disney/Christopher Willard))
He serves looks, great commentary, and some fantastic reactions. What more could we want?
The $100,000 Is Entertaining
The good news is that you don’t have long to wait for this highly anticipated episode.
It airs Sunday, April 27, at 10/9c and will be available to stream on Hulu the next day.

Queensland, Australia has scored another Hollywood production with action-thriller “Runner,” led by “Reacher” star Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson.
The film, which began shooting March 31 in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, follows high-end courier Hank Malone (Ritchson) tasked with delivering a life-saving organ to a seven-year-old girl. What begins as a straightforward delivery spirals into danger when outside forces target the precious cargo. Wilson co-stars as Ben, a medical courier whom Ritchson’s character must reluctantly protect.
“Runner” comes on the heels of “Bear Country,” which just wrapped production on March 23 in the same region with a star-studded cast including Russell Crowe, Aaron Paul, Teresa Palmer, Nina Dobrev and Luke Evans.
“Queensland is fast becoming the film production destination of choice,” said John-Paul Langbroek, Minister for the Arts. “From gritty urban thrillers like ‘Runner’ to beachside blockbusters like ‘Ticket to Paradise,’ the sunshine state always looks incredible on the big screen.

As we were checking our catalog of reviews the past months, we realized that there is a slight gap on articles about films from Mainland China. As such, we decided to start a tribute on the particular cinema, starting from the 4th generation directors and onwards. With the help of Victor Fan, who provided a list with films we “should” deal with, we came up a series of movies the writers of Amp have been dealing with since January. Following are some of the highlights, in a list that will expand throughout the year.
1. One and Eight (1984) by Zhang Junzhao
According to Zhen Ni, in November 1983, “One and Eight” was sent to censors. While waiting for the response, Junzhao and others organized a screening at Beijing Film Studio and celebrated this picture with their friends and teachers. Zhang Yimou later recalled that he was most happy and excited during that moment.

“Black Snow” dates back to the time when the cinema of the People’s Republic, which had come to a virtual standstill due to the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) and was barely noticeable internationally, was awakening from its deep sleep. Director Xie Fei, who was already 48 years old at the time of completion, is still considered one of the recognized greats today, not least because of his long-term work as a professor at the renowned Beijing Film Academy.

In Black Snow season 2’s ending, a town finally finds closure regarding a cold case that was starved of the truth for two decades. Zoe Jacobs’ death opened a can of worms that was hard for Moorevale to contain. The cabal, composed of corporate cronies, politicians, and the Jacobs family, has consistently bound Moorevale to a culture of longstanding exploitation. If Season 1 sheds light on the experience of exploitation in the lower rungs of Australian society, Black Snow season 2 makes us acquainted with the power imbalance that pervades the supposedly upscale community.

Travis Fimmel's Underrated Crime Drama Dives Into a Haunting Cold Case and Buried Small Town Secrets
Before Travis Fimmel appeared as Desmond Hart in Dune: Prophecy, he brought another fascinating character to life on the small screen. Black Snow, an Australian crime drama that originally aired in the U.S. on AMC+ in 2023, follows his character, Detective James Cormack, as he tries to solve an intriguing cold case. The series is able to accomplish something many crime dramas aren't able to. It actually dives into the life of the victim, and it accurately depicts the long-lasting effects of a murder on the victim's loved ones and on a small town itself. Now available to stream on Prime Video, the series (with just six episodes) is well worth a watch.

Paolo Cortellesi’s “There’s Still Tomorrow,” a box office smash in its native Italy, was Sunday named winner of the Sydney Film Prize at the end of the Sydney Film Festival (June 5-16)
A jury headed by Danis Tanovic called the film about an industrious woman in post WWII Rome “audacious, cutting-edge and courageous.” The prize is one of the richest awarded at any festival and is worth A$60,000.
The announcement was made at the city’s State Theatre ahead of the Australian premiere screening of the Demi Moore-starring Cannes hit “The Substance.”
The A$20,000 Documentary Australia award went to local filmmaker James Bradley, for “Welcome to Babel,” which charts Chinese-Australian artist Jiawei Shen’s plans to create an epic work.
The inaugural recipient of the largest cash prize for First Nations filmmaking, the A$35,000 First Nations Award went to New Zealand filmmaker Awanui Simich-Pene’s “First Horse,” a short...

The 71st edition of Australia’s Sydney Film Festival (Sff) closed on Sunday June 16 amid a wave of optimisim with a wealth of prizes, a likely rise in ticket sales, and an influx of young cinemagoers.
Ticket sales were estimated to be more than 10% up on last year, making 2024 the second biggest year on record after 2019.
“It’s been quite phenomenal and we feel very optimistic about the future,” said festival director Nashen Moodley. “We can’t tell with precision, but judging by which films sold, the younger demographic is increasing.”

South Australian Anthony Frith’s close encounter with “Sharknado” prodco The Asylum in “Mockbuster” is among five handpicked titles to be showcased at the Adelaide Film Festival Goes to Cannes showcase, held at Cannes Marché du Film on May 17.
The five works in progress range from queer adult anime, comedic doc, and traditional non-fiction to family dramas, helmed mostly by newcomers, and reflect the dynamic filmmaking community of Southern Australia, set to tempt potential co-financiers in Cannes.
So far two titles have received international backing. “Mockbuster” has been pre-sold to Giant Pictures and Drafthouse Films for North America, on top of domestic distribution in Australia via Umbrella Entertainment; Kelly Schilling’s drama “With or Without You,” handled locally by Icon Film Distribution, has been picked up by global sales agent LevelK.
