    can i even continue watching?

Oh man this show is rough and as a physicist it is really punching my buttons in a bad way.

The woman has seen a hundred doors open and suddenly runs out of a random door into some kind of blizzard.

Didn't she see the snow when she opened the door?

And then we see the exact footprints they left in the snow.... Hey, let's go back that way, thought no-one ever in this "Locke And Key" level braindead episode.

Whoever is writing this show is catering it towards room temp IQ audience or is themselves Room Temerpature in the IQ department....

Damn, I'm a bottle of wine in and this episode is STILL giving me the tard vibes.

This is the wrong Dark Matter

I tried a few more episodes to see if those actions these characters do have any meaning, but they are so far from plausible than the premise. Every time I ask myself why they do what they do, but there is no answer. They are simply stupid! There is no logic in what they do. He is a professor and draws conclusions, but he does stupid things, and that psychologist isn't even better...running into a whiteout...where to?!

They tried a more scientific approach to that 90's series called Sliders, but despite the great effects and ideas the writing is awful and I rather rewatch the other series with the same name than more of this crap.

    Apple Doing Sci-Fi Right

I swear, I've wanted to cancel Apple TV+ for over a year now. I'm trying to cut back on streaming services, especially ones I don't use much, but every time I'm about to cut it, they drop another great sci-fi show!

First there was For All Mankind, then I got into See. Then I started getting into Foundation. Foundation got renewed, other shows got additional seasons, and so I stuck around some more. That lead to Severance... then Silo. Just when I think it's over, I spot a new show called Dark Matter (that I had never even heard of), and here I am... hooked AGAIN.

It started off with a done-before/body-swap story with a unique twist, but it's grown into something much more. This episode really highlighted how much further they can go with the concept, not just with the multiverse stuff, but getting more people involved with the concept of the box & what it offers.

Along with that aspect, we finally get characters making more dramatic shifts in their status quo. Jason 2 is no longer content with just inhabbiting the life of Jason 1, he wants to make his mark. And with that comes his family taking notice of how drastically things are changing, which will hopefully get even better in future episodes.

I know this reads more like a review for the whole show, but this episode is what really sold me that this series will ultimately be worth investing in. I don't know if it'll need a S2, but Apple is about the only streaming service I trust to renew a sci-fi show if it does need one.

    Great concept

Really getting into this show now. I love anything to do with alternate realities so I was pretty certain I'd like this but you never can tell. Actors are great (especially Joel) and I'm loving the storyline so far. This really kicked into gear in this episode with great special effects and a lot of reveals. I'm loving the mystery of the box and learning alongside the characters what it can do and how it (may) can be controlled. It was good that the scene I thought was a ridiculous coincidence was given a plausible explanation. I'm enjoying the other worlds more than the main earth so far but hopefully that will change.

    An uneven episode

This is the longest episode of the series so far and it has a very uneven pacing. The first half drags along very slowly and verges on being boring. Plus, there are a few ridiculous moments. The psychiatrist who trains box pilots to be able to control their mental state completely loses it in that very same situation? They run into a blizzard, and, instead of retracing their very visible steps in the snow immediately, they go off in a random direction hoping for... what exactly? The second part of the episode gets better and the ridiculous moments from the first half turn out to be a very poorly written plot device (I won't spoil anything here); the plot moves forward, but not in a smart and well thought out way.

This episode marks roughly the halfway point of the show. So far it has been interesting enough, and hopefully the remaining episodes will be free of empty filler as much as possible, unlike this one.

At one point while in the Box Jason uses a satellite telephone to get GPS coordinates. But the whole point of the Box is to isolate the interior completely from even the slightest connection with the outside. GPS signals must not penetrate the Box or else otherwise it could not do its job.
    • Quotes

Jason Dessen: We know that the doors in the corridor are connections to infinite parallel universes that seem random. Totally unconnected and uncontrollable. But what if our minds are defining those connections? That they're not random at all? They're... That somehow we are choosing these worlds?

Amanda Lucas: I definitely didn't choose this world.

Jason Dessen: No. Not intentionally, but... what if the worlds are a reflection of our emotional state the moment we open the door?
