Only last December, BritBox announced a release window for the highly anticipated third season of Beyond Paradise, and now, we finally have a first look at the upcoming season courtesy of Digital Spy. The Death in Paradise spin-off was renewed for Season 3in April 2024, with production kicking off later in August, and fan favorites Kris Marshall, Sally Bretton, Zahra Ahmadi, and Derry Girls’ Dylan Llewellyn were announced as returning stars. The agreement brings fresh installments of Alan Carr’s autobiographical comedy “Changing Ends” (Seasons 3-4) and standup favorite “Live At the Apollo” to ABC platforms. BBC Studios and Australia’s public broadcaster, ABC, have extended their long-standing content agreement, continuing the delivery of British programming to Australian viewers. The deal, described as “substantial,” was announced as London’s International TV Week kicks off.

Under the renewed pact, ABC will receive a range of programming, including new seasons of Alan Carr’s Changing Ends, Live At the Apollo, Death in Paradise, Beyond Paradise, and Call The Midwife. The ABC will also debut Unforgotten (Season 6), Sherwood (Season 2), and a re-imagined Walking With Dinosaurs.

The first of two spinoffs of the BBC One comedy crime series Death in Paradise, the other being Return to Paradise, Beyond Paradise premiered in February 2023, with season 2 coming a year later, in April 2024. Like its parent show, Beyond Paradise is a highly underrated British detective TV show with a similar tone and style to Death in Paradise and even has a returning face.

Despite not being filmed in the same tropical locale as Death in Paradise, Beyond Paradise has Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) back on the case. Di Goodman starred in Death in Paradise from season 3 to season 6, before leaving to go back to London to live with his girlfriend Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton). Humphrey joins the local coastal police force near Devon, bringing a new approach to the stagnated department.

Sony Pictures Networks India (Spni) has acquired TV and digital rights to all New Zealand-based men’s and women’s cricket matches into India and associated territories for the next seven years. The deal is valid from May 1, 2024 through April 30, 2031, encompassing India’s tours of New Zealand in the 2026-27 and 2030-31 summers, as well as all other bilateral Tests, ODIs, and T20Is played in New Zealand during the period. BBC Studios has bought out ITV’s 50% interest in streamer BritBox International in a deal worth £255m.

The landmark move gives BBC Studios sole ownership of the previously joint venture platform, which has a subscriber base of around 3.8m across the various territories it operates.

After the transaction has completed it will provide net proceeds including loan repayments and accrued dividends of around £235m after tax to ITV.

BBC Studios will move BritBox International into its global media and streaming division to sit alongside other direct-to-consumer propositions including factual streamer BBC Select. The move will see current global chief executive Reemah Sakaan exiting the company.

Death In Paradise has been one of the BBC’s most successful dramas in recent years. Created by Robert Thorogood in 2011, the show’s thirteenth series is about to hit our screens. It has seen Ben Miller, Kris Marshall, Ardal O’Hanlon and current detective Ralf Little solve a remarkably high number of murders for such a small Caribbean island.

Last year, Marshall’s character Humphrey Goodman starred in spin-off Beyond Paradise, which paired him with Not Going Out star Sally Bretton and relocated the action to Cornwall. Proving popular with viewers, it recently returned for a Christmas special and a second series will be broadcast this year.

A further spin off, entitled Return to Paradise was announced last year, with action taking place in Australia.

Back in 2015, during a BBC Breakfast interview about series seven of Not Going Out, presenter Bill Turnbull asked Lee Mack: “Did you ever imagine when you first got that pilot that you’d get seven series?”
