The Wrong House

Not usually a fan of film shorts but watched this as a friend recommended it to me. It starts off with atmospheric music and I instantly wanted to see more. The dialogue is great between the two actors and you cannot help but love and hate them in the eight or so minutes of the film. It boasts to have won an award and you can see why. the acting, directing...heck all of it screams professional, whilst there is no escaping that it has a low budget but with none of the cheese that would normally be expected with a film less than Hollywood. I don't want to give too much away as I feel it should be experienced for oneself. If you like a few 'what the hell' moments than do yourself a favour and watch it. Now!!

The Wrong House is an excellent short film which shows the dangers of choosing particular lifestyles. It just goes to show what can be done without the use of a Hollywood budget. The beginning sequences were shot with style and builds the tension for the rest of the feature to follow, which it does brilliantly keeping up the tension and suspense which breaks nicely at the end in surprising and sudden fashion, leaving the viewer wondering what has happened and what or who was behind it. Subtle use of focusing on objects which normally have a mundane and ordinary existence or use, become eerie, hiding a frightening presence looming beyond shot. The use of background sound is excellent and helps in building and maintaining the tension all the way through. If you want to know how to make a film without the budget of Spielberg and co. You cant go far wrong watching this film. it is a delight to watch as viewer and film fan and if you are also into making films yourself.
