Douglas Smith's name was on a list of actors considered for the role of Ethan. When Carrie-Anne Moss saw the list, she put in a good word for him, having worked with him previously in The Boy Who Smells Like Fish (2013) and The Bye Bye Man (2017). This helped Smith to get an offer for the role.

Predictable and a bad male lead.

But I watched until the end. The acting from most of the cast was fine. But as a general matter, I found the male lead to not be good. He just couldn't carry the relationship he was supposed to have. And it took me out of the story.

About halfway through, the plotline becomes obvious. And that wasnt a deal breaker. The plot itself is kind of interesting. Sort of a The Last of Us kind of scenario, just not nearly as interesting or as well constructed.

I wouldn't really recommend it, but if you're desperate for a post apocalyptic kind of jam, then it'll fit the bit. I just can't really look past how poorly the casting was for the lead.
