Entertaining doc with great filmmaker interviews on Bob & Kathy Burns

Frank Dietz and Trish Geiger's fantastic documentary BEAST WISHES: THE FANTASTIC WORLD OF BOB AND KATHY BURNS, a loving and star-studded celebration of this couple's unique and influential place in preserving film history and fostering a generation of filmmakers.

If you are a fan of monster movies, haunted attractions or film history and don't know who Bob and Kathy Burns are, then this DVD is absolutely required viewing for you. For those who already know about Bob and Kathy, or have seen their amazing collection of sci-fi, horror and classic film memorabilia, this film will play like fond home movies. Ranging from one of the original stop-motion armatures of KING KONG to a restoration of THE TIME MACHINE vehicle, to modern props seen in ALIEN, THE TERMINATOR and much more, the Burns' collection is truly priceless yet Bob and Kathy refuse to sell them on eBay or at auctions. Instead they keep these treasures safe and on display to share freely with other like minded movie maniacs who also appreciate their inestimable value in cultural meaning far more than a prop market dollar amount.

BEAST WISHES tells Bob and Kathy's life story as well as their shared creature feature affection, which is actually how they met. Not only are the couple incredibly knowledgeable about film history and devout in preserving it for new generations, they're wickedly funny, sweet, smart people too. This documentary is so thorough in recreating these parallel life and film history paths that by the end of it, you may feel you've known the couple for years. You'll certainly wish they lived in your neighborhood this Halloween so you could share their creative spirit celebrating creatures, aliens and things that go bump in the night.

A great film and a great inspiration!

I can't say enough good about this movie! Any self respecting monster kid needs this movie in their collection, and even if you aren't a huge fan of horror or science fiction, this movie is SO inspiring!

Bob and Kathy Burns are 2 of the most incredible people to grace our planet, and this film is a great tribute to the wonderful things they have accomplished throughout their lives.

The Burns' have amassed what has to be one of the biggest if not THE biggest collection of screen-used props and costumes from nearly every imaginable horror or sci-fi movie, and I guarantee when you watch this film, you will spend the majority of the time picking your jaw up off the floor when you see the vast array of items they have in their incredible collection!

In addition to seeing and hearing about this killer collection, you will get to see the over the top Halloween productions that Bob and Kathy would do at their home. It's pretty hard to imagine being able to out do their yard haunts when you consider they got help from the biggest names in Hollywood special effects, such as Greg Nicotero and Rick Baker.

Greg and Rick and many others give their insights and opinions on Bob and Kathy throughout the film as well. I truly can't imagine anyone walking away from this movie without feeling inspired by the things Bob and Kathy have done. I was lucky enough to meet them both at MONSTERPALOOZA in Burbank, Ca. last April, and they are as genuine and sincere in person as they are in BEAST WISHES. I highly recommend this movie to everyone!!!

A well presented engaging story of one of the most influential people in Hollywood

I was able to purchase a copy of Beast Wishes, at the Monsterpalooza show from the filmmakers Frank Dietz and Trish Geiger back when they were first starting to gain more recognition for a story that needed to be told!

Both of them have become very good friends with Bob and Kathy Burns who both have a true love and passion for the movies. Throughout the years Bob started to gain friendships within the industry, and began to amass a collection of many many different props, masks and obscure items from the people that made those films.

As you progress through the film you can begin to see the genuine kindness and good humor that Bob and Kathy both possess, as well as the willingness to educate, encourage, and brighten the lives of everyone that they meet.

Any fan of the movies will drool over the large and vast collection that the both of them have gained over the years. Pieces from Alien, Plan 9 from Outer Space, The Mummy (the original), and so much more! It is amazing to see that all of these pieces have been preserved so well, and loved as much as the people who originally made them.

I found myself wanting to see and learn more after I had finished watching the documentary, and wanted to get the chance to see these props for myself! It was SO cool to know that there are people out there who have a true love of the movies, and don't treat them as just a small gimmick that isn't going to last that long. They truly do last a lifetime and seeing what pieces the creators used to make those films possible makes you want to go back and watch those movies again just so you can find that small prop from a Star Trek episode that you see in this film!

Also home haunters will appreciate the work that Bob and Kathy did for their homes each year to make it more fun for all of the trick r treaters that would come to their house. It was by far one of my favorite parts of the movie (being a home haunter myself) and I was literally on the edge of my seat so I could get a better look at all the details that went into these yearly events!

You need to get yourself a copy of this documentary, it brings back that spark of excitement that you had as a kid watching a new movie for the first time. Memories begin to flood back into your mind of some of your favorite movies and you will find yourself wanting to rewind and go back to scenes that show different props and rare pieces of film history. I loved this film and hope that everyone who watches it feels that same sense of magic that I did watching it for the first time!
