    Blood on the choir.

Exploring the online section of the Abertoir film festival, I was excited to discover that two Horror films from Wales were in the line-up, and that for the first time, they had English subtitles, leading to me looking up at the stars.

    View on the film:

Going on to make the wonderful Folk Horror title From the Old Earth (1981-also reviewed), here co-writer (with Dafydd Huw Williams) / director Wil Aaron sings a heart-warming homemade atmosphere of panning shots travelling along children from the Ysgol Brynrefail secondary school in Llanrug, Gwynedd in North Wales sinking their teeth into terrorizing the adults, which land on jump-cuts of snake attacks, and delightfully oddly comedic zoom-ins on the adults fainting at the unfolding.

Putting on a show by getting all the locals to get involved in the filming, along with offering a terrific time capsule of mid-70's Wales, the screenplay by Aaron and Williams bring out an adorable sense of community spirit, by wisely keeping the horror unleashed by the children small scale, which opens up the chance for light, playful satire of local celebs of the era dying on stage, as blood is left on the stars.
