A Bunch of 20-Somethings Who Write Boring Music About Trying to Find Themselves

Yawn. I could only make it through the first 15 mins and had to start fast-forwarding to see if things would pick up a bit. They didn't. It's just "Rose" meeting a bunch of random guys and everyone thinks they're a poet and have some put-to-music message they need to get out there. Z-z- This movie is just as Indie boring as it gets. S-L-O-W, trite and silly plodding along nothingness which will have you thinking about no-----not thinking about your life. It will have you thinking about anything else but what you're watching.

Find something better to watch is my recommendation.

    The Power of Positive Connection!

This reminded me of the joys of being young and the serendipitous connections you make, almost without trying, and how they lift you and everyone else up. I thought it might be a little indie 'love-letter to Brighton' when I started watching, but it's subtly more than that. If the characters in the film were actually real and they made a film, this is the film they would make.

Feel good movie with great soundtrack

I recently saw this movie and found it both charming and amusing. It looks and feels like a proper movie even though the movie was completed on a relatively small budget.

The lead actress and musician Ellen Cosgrove was beguiling and played the part of Rose perfectly - reticent yet also showing inner confidence. She was well supported by the other leading actors who provided plenty of laughs.

Towards the end of the movie I wondered how the various plot lines could be interwoven however they are cleverly and adeptly brought together by the end by the young director. In doing so he managed to avoid making the movie schmaltzy.

    Excellent soundtrack throughout also.

    Uplifting!

A lovely film centred around Brighton's lively music scene, this features a superb original soundtrack and utilises the locality nicely. The characters are mostly warm and likeable, with an outstanding performance from Eddy Brimson who you immediately feel an affinity to. This a pleasant change from the deluge of violent and far fetched movies that abound today. It is superbly directed, to culminate in a satisfying and heart warming finale that can't fail to fulfil most people's expectations. A true underrated British gem, that is highly recommended for those who appreciate subtle character development and great music!

    A feel-good movie with a superb soundtrack!

I have been a fan of Ellen and the Echo for some time, so when I heard that the lead singer was starring in a movie I reckoned that it had to be worth a watch. I was right! It is feel-good at its best. The real winner in this movie for me is the soundtrack. As well as featuring Ellen Cosgrove and her distinctive sound, it also features a lot of other original acts.

The characters are believable - I particularly liked Eddy Brimston as Joe. Although she is not in it for long, Amanda Piery's Nicole is quite delightfully eccentric and reminded me of an old flatmate of mine.

The movie itself reminded me of the first series of 'Treme' (while different in terms of style of music and storyline) in terms of feeling in a good mood after watching it. There is something about hearing good music in a movie or TV series that gives a boost. I really hope that we see more of this type of movie - showcasing new talent and some original song writing.
