    this.

this is the film that made me need to go to Iceland.

it relays something within itself that is not necessarily because of Iceland, or because of the filmmakers, or because of any distinct part of the film, but because of the film as a whole. there is some inherent truth that i feel stronger expressed in this film than i do at most times. it speaks to designers and to creatives. it speaks of process and of adventure and of doubt and speaks to the eternal questions of "what am I doing?" and "why am I doing it?" and "is this the right thing?" it is so strong, the film, and so beautiful and sad and painful in a way. it's just true. and honest. and lovely.

i honestly can't say enough good about this film, but nothing I say will do it justice. HIGHLY recommend you see for yourself. :)

    Magnificent piece of compelling art

    Movie stirrings:

"Everything in Iceland matches my eyes."

"In Iceland, the clarity, colors, space, come clear with me."

    "I contain. I sift. I condense. I expand."

"Nature is nature. You can't mediate the wind."

"You are an island. I am an island."

    The kids who eat mud?!?!

"The wind would change the way you think. Obsessions, religiosity, powerful, talking to clouds and sky." (I like how the sound sped up through this section of the film.)

Love the doors that open different ways...

"Intuition is a tool. Imagination is a tool."

    The box is important.

    Fishing for Truth, Getting Wet

This film is a beautiful act of intuitive synthesis; of taking the disparate, in congruent parts of reality, and finding yourself in a place that allows for order and understanding (then documenting it to share). This kind of old knowledge and the act of seeking it is in the best regard for our shared humanity. Without pretension, and guided by a focused line of questioning, these two filmmakers are quietly figuring things out for themselves and for us. If, we listen closely, and look broadly. Of special interest to viewers who love/live with/work with/care for persons whose mentality others would deem ill. Watch it twice, once before and once after a dream...

    Unique, surreal.

"I Send You This Place" is something that should be seen. I've taken in many, many documentaries, but none quite like this. I recommend not viewing it as such, in fact. It's less that, and more of a collage of ideas.

It's an utterly unique, surreal exploration of the complexities of human perception, filtered through a woman's exploration of the wild landscape of Iceland. It's playful, wistful, and ultimately bittersweet. It's also gorgeously shot, sometimes kinetic and other times dreamy. I was reminded of Tarkovsky in certain areas.

It's pretty astounding that this is the first effort by the filmmakers. I'm very interested to see what they follow up with.
