Per the National Board of Review, Erivo was recently asked if there was any particular "dream role" she wanted to manifest. Tom Holland is suiting up, this time to play a lawyer, in the upcoming adaptation of John Grisham’s novel “The Partner” for Universal Pictures.

The actor, who rose to fame playing Peter Parker in Sony’s “Spider-Man” trilogy, will also serve as a producer on the film, which is being written by “The Imitation Game” scribe Graham Moore. The 1997 novel, published the year after Holland was born, follows a junior partner at a law firm who steals $90 million from a wealthy client, fakes his own death and flees to Brazil.

Universal had no comment about Holland’s attachment to the project, which was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.

It’s unclear when the project will take shape. Holland has a busy film schedule, including Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” “Spider-Man 4” and potentially the next “Avengers” sequels, over the next year and change.

Star Wars began shifting their projects to Disney+, primarily focusing on television shows, but at Star Wars Celebration in 2023, Lucasfilm made the stunning announcement that Ridley would return to the franchise, starring in her own standalone film.

As per multiple reports, the Tom Holland (Spider-Man: No Way Home; Avengers: Endgame) has landed the lead role in Christopher Nolan's next epic movie, which is scheduled to begin shooting in early 2025, with an eye on a prime Summer 2026 release date. 

The fan-favorite actor was reportedly at the top of Nolan's wish list for this project and will now co-star with Academy Award-winner Matt Damon (Jason Bourne; Ford v Ferrari), who is set to reunite with Nolan for the third time in his career, after the sci-fi thriller Interstellar and last year's Best Picture winner Oppenheimer. 

Plot details on Nolan's latest film are being kept under wraps, but the film is rumored to be an action film and The Hollywood Reporter claims the setting is not present day. However, whether the film is set in the past or in the future remains a mystery.

Actor Demián Bichir has joined the cast of Scott Derrickson’s upcoming horror sequel The Black Phone 2.

The Black Phone was a huge success for Universal Pictures and Blumhouse, so it’s really no wonder a sequel was greenlit so quickly. The sequel, simply titled The Black Phone 2, will hit cinemas next year and we already know Ethan Hawke will reprise his role as The Grabber.

Demián Bichir has now also joined the sequel in an undisclosed role, as reported by Deadline. All plot details are also being kept under wraps, but something tells us The Grabber might be grabbing kids again.

The first film grossed over $160m at the global box office and received generally positive reviews from critics. Director Scott Derrickson is set to return to direct the sequel and the script is also his handiwork, again with frequent collaborator Robert C Cargill.

They say necessity is the mother of invention. That was certainly the case for director Doug Liman, who needed to film a quick scene for a movie and accidentally created an entirely new trend of movie aesthetics. The "shaky cam" technique is used in a number of films today, particularly "found footage" films, but its use was popularized by Matt Damon's Jason Bourne films and from one scene in particular from the first film.

In an interview with IGN, while discussing his favorite scenes from his biggest movies, Liman points to a brief scene in his 2002 film The Bourne Identity for pioneering the "shaky cam" aesthetic. The movie is considered a classic modern action film because of its unique style, typified by one scene in particular. I think I should preface my review of The Instigators with two things. Firstly, I had completely forgotten about this movie’s existence until the reviews from its limited theatrical release started to pop up on the internet. That can be the result of my ignorance or the bad marketing by Apple TV+. Since it has an incredibly stacked cast and yet it isn’t being plastered all over the internet and theaters (like the streaming platform did for Argylle), I’d put 90 percent of the blame regarding the lack of enthusiasm around the film on the marketing. I know that Doug Liman isn’t on the hot streak that he was enjoying until Edge of Tomorrow, but that doesn’t mean anything he touches should be disparaged because it’s not Edge of Tomorrow 2. The Instigators is a new film from Doug Liman, a director who burst onto the scene with the Sundance-rejected indie hit Swingers and the criminally underseen but ultra-cool Go. Yet, somehow, Liman transitioned from cult comedies to big-action Hollywood blockbusters with the first two films in The Bourne franchise and the film that made Jennifer Aniston a divorcee, Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

In addition to critically approved films like American Made and Fair Game, Liman has a filmography stacked with critical and box office disappointments. Real stinkers include the stagnant Chaos Walking, the forgettably campy Road House, the underwhelming Jumper, the obligatory Three Musketeers, and the streaming film Locked Down, which had many rooting for a Covid-19 victory.

Unfortunately, things will not improve with The Instigators, mainly because of a thoughtless and inattentive script that never bothers to sweat the details.
