When you want to please 80% of the people, you loose 80% of the substance that makes a great piece, the special sauce gets watered down. A special story bawd on true events, 1970s Mexico, police with all the ugly attributes.

If this show would have focused on the case, it would have been a great thriller. Even with all the emphasis on inequality.

Conversely, if they'd kept more soap opera, be great at that. I got to give it to the creators, they've managed to keep it mediocre enough to cover a lot of ground. Bravo. Another streaming success. Could have been great.

Most important highlight is the cast, amazing. Great performances, really enjoyed it.
