I don't often leave really bad reviews, but I hated it. Like really hated it. Some people called it a crime thriller, but I just thought the story was surreal, progressed slowly, the end made no sense at all. Well, the only sense it made is that the makers want to do a season 2, but it won't be for me. While he's just smashing things or people for the whole series, his little naive fling girlfriend keeps on spinning between him and the other guy (who is a complete moron) and the psychiatrist is just perverted. Then there's a bunch of bad guys around, but you never really know why and they don't add anything to the story. My advice: watch something else.
I REALLY wanted to like this! I began watching with no expectations, or preconceived notions; other than I usually love foreign, suspense, thrillers and the topic seemed riveting. The first episode was EXCITING and unexpected. But now (and I am 3.5 episodes in) and I am dying a SLOW death of a thousand turtles! I'm not sure if it's the translation, the captions, or what, but even the dialogue is BORINGGGGGG! Perhaps I need to watch it in Spanish. (Maybe THAT will give a different vibe to the show). But, like I stated, I really wanted to like this, but I cannot recommend this, UNLESS you are looking for something to help you sleep. If so, just start at the second episode, and you will have NO problem.
Tv-show is called muted and the premise is that the main character hasn´t spoken to anyone in six years since he killes his parents. But in fact he speaks to everyone except some people in the police and law department. This pretty much ruins thew whole premise of the movie and it never gets any better. A really boring main actor who just looks like he is misplaced in every scene he is in. Surronded with a few more b- actors/actresses makes this a snooze fest and except for the first 10 minutes when the murder is committed there is just nothing engaging about it. You never feel sorry for the main actor in any scene, you just feels he is pathetic and weird. I won´t spoil the ending but come on, really???? Number one stupidiest tv-show this year.
Just like with another Netflix series "Safe", "Muted" has a promising beginning, keeps your attention throughout all 6 episodes (though not everything makes sense) - suspense is high, acting is great, so you naturally expect some really clever culmination...just to get disappointed in the end. So many question remain unanswered. If his Mother was a saint, why the observation room? What about the experimental medicine? What was it about the older guy who the policeman was meeting in secret places? They really messed up Noa character-nothing makes sense about her. What about his aunt and grandparents? Why were they brought into the play? I can continue with 10 more whys.. Still, the series are so different from the modern day Hollywood productions, so I don't regret watching it.
The falling bodies onto the streets and roofs of cars caught my attention from the trailer and the first episode did get off with a good start. As the detective unravels the crime scene by describing the events that took place, that was quite good.
But then the show begins to stall by episode 2 and it doesn't pick up again until the last episode. Episodes 2 through 5 feel more like filler material and my attention began to give out on this show. They could have cut out huge chunks of this film and made it more interesting. I think it had enough material for a 90-minute movie. But a 6-episode limited run series, I don't think they had enough story material.
