The 10 Best Superhero Movie Reboots (and the 5 Worst)
Image
There are lots of things that movies and comic books have in common. They’re both visual mediums. They both juxtapose one image after another to convey a narrative and make deeper thematic connections. And sometimes they both screw up a whole franchise and have to start over again.

Yes, superhero comics have been doing reboots since the early days. The Silver Age as we know it began when DC tried to goose up interest in their Golden Age intellectual property by making some brand new guy The Flash and claiming the original scarlet speedster was just a comic book. As the decades progressed superhero comics would often decline in popularity, get kicked to the curb, and then pop up years later, just in case audiences were finally interested in the Guardians of the Galaxy or the Punisher again.

Movies work the same way. If audiences dig one movie enough,...

Image
Will Mohanlal & Jeethu Joseph’s Drishyam 3 Release In Both Malayalam & Hindi? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)

The wait for Drishyam 3 has kept fans on edge since director Jeethu Joseph teased the possibility of the third installment. The veteran actor Mohanlal recently confirmed that the much-loved franchise is returning with its third chapter. But here’s the real twist— the crime thriller might not stick to just Malayalam. If reports are accurate, the film could also be released in Hindi this time. This has sparked a burning question: Will it affect Ajay Devgn’s Hindi remake?

Mohanlal & Jeethu Joseph Aim For Pan-India Appeal

The heart of the Drishyam franchise has always been its suspense. Yet, despite arriving two years after the originals, the Hindi adaptations pulled in big crowds. Chuck Norris Maybe the Only Celeb Who Can Kick Harder Than Joe Rogan

Even during his 50s, Norris continued to practice his martial arts skills passionately. In a video that surfaced on X, he can be seen demonstrating some killer kicks with Benny Urquidez. It appears that he would’ve given Joe Rogan a run for his money with those kicks.

Armie Hammer's The Dark Knight Changes Its Title Following A "Friendly Conversation" With Warner Bros.
Image
The Lone Ranger and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. star Armie Hammer is attempting a career comeback following allegations of sexual misconduct in 2021. Los Angeles prosecutors ultimately decided against charging the actor, but his reputation took a serious hit.

Hammer was on his way to the A-List but is largely being relegated to what would have once been "direct-to-dvd" fare at this stage in his career. Last year, he shot Frontier Crucible with Thomas Jane and William H. Macy, and next up is The Dark Knight. Or not.

The action-crime thriller made headlines for sharing a title with 2008's The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan's critically acclaimed Batman movie starring Christian Bale and Heath Ledger. Had it not been for that, chances are it would have been announced and quickly forgotten; either way, a name change has followed.

Variety has confirmed that The Dark Knight's title is now Citizen Vigilante.

'I Hope All This Crap Goes Away': Armie Hammer's Snow White Movie Director Defends the 'Canceled' Actor
Image
Embattled actor Armie Hammer saw his career take a major hit, resulting from his infamous scandal involving allegations of sexual misconduct and claims of cannibalism. While he seemed to see his career swiftly come to an end, perhaps becoming another casualty of "cancel culture," Hammer has recently been getting back into acting with his recent castings in multiple upcoming films.

Looking back, one of Hammer's most memorable roles from the past was as the prince in 2012's Mirror Mirror, a Snow White retelling that also featured Lily Collins and Julia Roberts. As Disney's new Snow White movie is heading into theaters, Mirror Mirror director Tarsem Singh spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about working with Hammer on their 13-year-old film. While Singh noted that he doesn't know "all the background" on the allegations made against Hammer, he shared how he still greatly supports the actor.

“I love Armie Hammer,” Singh explained.

10 Power Rangers Who Never Returned to the Show (But Should've)
Image
It's always exciting when old Power Rangerscharacters make a reappearance. Most of the time, this happens during the series' frequent team-up episodes. This isn't always the case though, and fan favorites like Tommy Oliver, Adam Park and Billy Cranston are famous for their solo appearances.

Many of the best Power Rangers made appearances long after their departures from the series, while others never appeared after their debut season at all. Some teams never returned for a team-up episode, while other characters were simply absent from their team's grand comeback. These Rangers are all beloved figures, and they deserved to get at least one more crack at the spotlight.

The Most Underrated Red Rangers, Ranked
Image
Nearly every leader and main character in Power Rangers is a Red Ranger. From Jason Lee Scott to Amelia Jones, these Rangers serve as the faces of their respective seasons and are typically the most popular members of their teams. However, for a variety of reasons, not every Ranger to ever wear Red is always given their due.

Everyone loves a Red Ranger, but some of Power Rangers' most famous heroes remain underrated. In some cases, this is because they weren't actually their season's protagonist or the leader of their team. Other times, Red Rangers get overlooked because of the season they come from. And, in some cases, a Red Ranger can be a leader, a main character, and from a popular season but still be unfairly maligned by fans who don't understand them.

10 Best Power Rangers Beast Morphers Episodes, Ranked
Image
When Hasbro bought out the production rights to the Power Rangers franchise in 2018, many fans were excited and cautiously concerned regarding the new direction of the series. Hasbro's first series, Power Rangers Beast Morphers, was generally well-received by fans, who considered it a massive improvement from Nickelodeon's Power Rangers Ninja Steel, which was considered a low point for the series.

Beast Morphers differentiated itself by leaning heavily into the shared universe aspect of Power Rangers. The idea that all these Ranger teams exist in the same multiverse made the franchise stand out to fans. Some Beast Morphers stood out as especially great, whether it be for its worldbuilding, references to previous seasons, great character development, or fun action scenes.

Power Rangers: The Early Days of the Show Were Brutal for the Cast
Image
In our multimedia-filled landscape, long-running franchises dominate. Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, and many more started small without world conquering ambitions. Nowadays though, if every entry in your franchise doesn’t make more than the last one and you aren’t cracking a billion dollars at the box office? Your franchise is a colossal failure. Thus, each new entry in a franchise is handled with extreme oversight and planning, most of which consists of “how can we scientifically engineer this to make as much money as possible for our CEO?”

Power Rangers is in that same wheelhouse as a franchise with 30 seasons of television, three feature films, and endless spinoff material. Fans currently wait on baited breath for a new Netflix Power Rangers series that’s in the works. No doubt one of the reasons for the long process between the announcement of that series (back in 2020) and its ongoing...

Why The CW Has Canceled Walker After 4 Seasons
Image
Financial concerns led to the cancellation of "Walker" by The CW due to budget cuts and low license fees. Despite initial success and high viewership, the show struggled with profitability and budget constraints. A potential spinoff or sequel series for "Walker" could be a possibility once The CW navigates its current changes.

After four seasons, The CW is putting an end to its Western remake, Walker, and unfortunately, there were many strong reasons why the show had to be canceled. Walker is a remake of Walker, Texas Ranger, a 1990s Western drama. It premiered on The CW three years ago, with Supernatural's Jared Padalecki as its star. In the series, a man named Cordell Walker returns home after two years away, working for Texas' most elite crime unit. Upon his homecoming, Walker must finally reconnect with his two children, and face the crime happening right in his hometown.

Ark: Survival Ascended Teases One Huge Crossover That May Make It Worth Revisiting

A Power Rangers crossover may breathe new life into Ark: Survival Ascended after player disappointment with the current release. The teaser image hints at a potential crossover with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, sparking speculation on what it could entail for the game. While details are still scarce, the integration of Power Rangers elements aligns with Ark's existing Tek technology, suggesting a natural fit for the crossover.

Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Reminds Viewers That Its Villains Weren't Always Evil
Image
Warning: Contains Spoilers Go! Go! Loser Ranger!

The Dragon Keepers are not necessarily villains, but the actual threat is the powerful Executives. Executives seek to rule Earth, are too strong for regular Rangers, and threaten Fighter D's ambitions. Fighter D shifts from an antihero to fighting the Executives as the common enemy, deepening the conflict and intrigue.

For those watching the first season of Go! Go! Loser Ranger! it's becoming increasingly clear that, while Fighter D might not believe it, the Dragon Keepers may not be so evil or even villains. This is to be taken with a grain of salt, especially given certain members' penchant for violence and the Ranger force at large recruiting members who are prone to violence.

Still, as the anime develops and continues to adapt the manga, the original villains of Go! Go! Loser Ranger! might become more like assets against a common enemy. Go! Go! Loser Ranger!...

Power Rangers’ 2017 Reboot Holds A Green Ranger Record That Will Likely Never Be Broken
Image
Power Rangers (2017) is the only Mighty Morphin Green Ranger theatrical appearance, featuring a new version of the character in which Rita was once the Green Ranger. The 2017 Power Rangers movie reimagined the TV show's characters and mythology, giving them different backstories and motivations. There are currently no announced plans for another Power Rangers movie, making it unlikely that Tommy's Green Ranger form will appear in a live-action movie project in the near future.

Power Rangers (2017) tried to reinvent the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in a more grounded, serious universe, and it holds an interesting Green Ranger record that might never be broken. There are only three theatrical Power Rangers movies – Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995), Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997), and the 2017 reboot. Of those three, only the Turbo one takes place in the same Power Rangers chronology as the TV shows. The reboot film never got a sequel,...

10 Most Op Power Rangers That The Show Had To Nerf
Image
Some Power Rangers characters, like the original Green Ranger, were significantly stronger before being nerfed in later episodes. Another example is how the introduction of the Psycho Rangers was intense, but subsequent fights against them became easier, reducing their initial threat. Several sixth Rangers, such as the Magna Defender and Titanium Ranger, were often written out of the show due to Sentai footage availability.

The Power Rangers universe does not have a very consistent power levels system, but some Rangers were just so “Op” that they had to be nerfed. Considering how many Rangers and villains there have been in the Power Rangers chronology, it can be difficult to properly rank them. Still, it is safe to say sixth, extra, or evil Rangers are usually presented as being stronger than the core heroes.

However, the main Rangers cannot be the weakest characters in their show for too long. As a result,...

David Oyelowo in Lawmen : L'histoire de Bass Reeves (2023)
‘Lawmen: Bass Reeves’ Creator Chad Feehan Is Hopeful for a Season 2: ‘I Would Love to Tell That Story’
David Oyelowo in Lawmen : L'histoire de Bass Reeves (2023)
“Lawmen: Bass Reeves” just wrapped on Paramount+. And while the streamer has yet to announce whether it will be coming back for another season, the show’s creator Chad Feehan is absolutely ready to come back.

“I intentionally left some meat on the bone in case we got to this point. Bass’s life is so incredible and it’s so expansive, there is no way that we could hit every major benchmark in his life in 8 or 10 hours or else it would’ve felt almost like a procedural,” Feehan told TheWrap.

And noting the story of the real-life Reeves being forced to arrest his own son in part to save his life, Feehan adds, “I would love to tell that story.”

“Lawman: Bass Reeves” is based on the life of Bass Reeves (played on the show by David Oyelowo), a former slave who became the first Black deputy U.

One Impressive Power Rangers Stat Proves How Iconic The Original Green & Pink Rangers Were
Image
Amy Jo Johnson and the late Jason David Frank built a lasting legacy within the Power Rangers franchise, with their characters Kimberly and Tommy being crucial to the show's success. Although Amy Jo Johnson never returned to the Power Rangers TV show after Mighty Morphin, both she and Jason David Frank appeared in all three theatrical Power Rangers movies. Kimberly and Tommy share a deep connection, with their relationship evolving from teammates to romantic partners before ultimately going their separate ways.

Amy Jo Johnson and the late Jason David Frank both built an amazing legacy within the Power Rangers franchise, and one impressive stat shows how important they were to the franchise. Kimberly Hart was one of the five teenagers with attitude who became superheroes in Mighty Morphin’s “Day of the Dumpster,” whereas Tommy Oliver joined the show in “Green With Evil.” Kimberly would remain in Power Rangers until...

The Ultimate Western Sidekick Is Also the Genre’s Greatest Force
Image
Few Western characters are as famous as the original Lone Ranger. Played primarily by Clayton Moore, the Lone Ranger and his partner Tonto traveled across the American Old West to bring in the criminals that the law couldn't seem to catch. The best-known version of Tonto comes from The Lone Ranger television series that debuted in 1949. This sidekick was played by none other than Jay Silverheels, a Mohawk-Seneca actor who would become one of the most prolific (albeit uncredited) faces in the Western genre. Even if you haven't seen a single episode of The Lone Ranger, you've probably seen Silverheels before, even if you didn't know it. As far as the ultimate Western sidekicks go, look no further than the original Tonto himself.

Power Rangers’ Darkest Origin Story Made For The Coolest Evil Ranger
Image
Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue introduced the Titanium Ranger, who had the darkest, most tragic origin story in the franchise. Captain Mitchell, who formed the Lightspeed Team, had to make a deal with a demon to save his son from a car accident. After reconnecting with his sister and realizing he had been used, the Titanium Ranger joined the Lightspeed Rescue team and became one of the good guys.

Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue includes the saga’s coolest evil Ranger, and it features the darkest Power Rangers origin story in all of the franchise. From Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ Tommy Oliver to Power Rangers Cosmic Fury’s Ollie Akana, the “evil Ranger” trope has always been part of Power Rangers’ charm. However, even though the Green Ranger is the most iconic, he was never the most complex evil Ranger.

While every Power Rangers season is based on a Super Sentai show,...

Power Rangers Debuts the Daughter of Original Green & Pink Rangers: Meet Olivia Hart
Image
Power Rangers' new alternate universe introduces Tommy and Kimberly's daughter, Olivia Hart, as the new Green Ranger. The story explores what would have happened if the original team of Power Rangers never disbanded. Though not much is known about her role in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return, Olivia Hart's character designs pay tribute to her parents' Ranger colors.

The debut of Olivia Hart is looming as Power Rangers' new alternate universe just teased the arrival of Tommy and Kimberly's daughter. The romance between the original Green and Pink Rangers is often hailed as one of the most beloved of the franchise, despite the fact that Tommy ultimately ends up with Kat instead of Kimberly. However, the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return series will examine if Tommy and Kimberly never broke up, and if the original team of Rangers never disbanded either.

The original Pink Ranger herself, Amy Jo Johnson...

10 Best Power Rangers Leaders, Ranked
Image
Being a Power Rangers leader is not easy, and even some of the franchise's greatest characters were not really great team leaders. While the Red Ranger is usually the leader, this is not true for all Power Rangers seasons. For example, Taylor Earhardt showed exceptional leadership as the Yellow Ranger in Wild Force, guiding her team through difficult times and training the new Red Ranger.

From Jason in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to Amelia in Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, being the leader of a Power Rangers team is not easy. While the role of team leader is associated with the Red Ranger color, not every Power Rangers leader is a Red Ranger. Likewise, not every Red Ranger was the leader of their team throughout Power Rangers’ chronological timeline.

The best Power Rangers characters are the ones who, despite the show’s formulaic structure, offer something viewers have not seen before.

New Anime is Basically the Dark Power Rangers Every 90s Kid Dreamed Of
Image
Go! Go! Loser Ranger! is a darker, more pessimistic take on the Super Sentai genre, providing a fresh perspective for Power Rangers fans. The anime adaptation of Negi Haruba's manga is highly anticipated by fans of both Power Rangers and Super Sentai. The manga not only pokes fun at the Power Rangers franchise but also offers a deep and interesting story that delves into familiar tropes.

In Kodansha's Go! Go! Loser Ranger!, that universe's version of the evil space alien army changes the traditional fight Power Ranger and lose dynamic by doing the unthinkable. While Power Rangers and the Super Sentai franchise its based on are traditionally lighthearted stories, Go! Go! Loser Ranger takes a look at the darker notes underlying the genre.

Negi Haruba's quietly excellent manga Go! Go! Loser Ranger! is being adapted into an anime. Announced last December, the brilliant reinterpretation of the groundbreaking Mighty Morphin'...

Unlike collectibles like Nursery Rhymes and Cult Stashes in Alan Wake 2, there are no puzzles you need to solve to earn the rewards tied to Deer Heads. Unfortunately, since these trophies don't count as items to pick up, they do not appear on your map when you reveal...

‘The Sacrifice Game’ – Shudder Spreads Holiday Fear With 1970s-Set Christmas Horror Movie
Image
From director Jenn Wexler (The Ranger), The Sacrifice Game is headed to Shudder for the holiday season, and the official trailer has come down the chimney this afternoon.

The Sacrifice Game spreads holiday fear on Shudder beginning December 8, 2023.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review for Bd, “What begins as something all too familiar eventually gives way to something more satisfying and charming. The Sacrifice Game may be a holiday ruiner for many of its characters, but for audiences, it’s a holiday horror treat.”

Fantasia described The Sacrifice Game as “a gripping and stylish ‘70s-set chiller involving school girls, power-mad killers and occult prophecy,” filled with both “gore and lore.”

In the upcoming horror movie…

“The Blackvale School for Girls, 1971. It’s bad enough that students Samantha and Clara can’t go home for the holidays, but things take a deadly turn when a gang of cult killers arrives at...

The Remarkable True Story Behind "Lawmen: Bass Reeves"
Image
Writer and showrunner Taylor Sheridan is known for creatively exploring and highlighting aspects of American history and culture in his many acclaimed works, ranging from TV series like "Yellowstone" to movies like "Sicario." His most recent project, "Lawmen: Bass Reeves," tells the story of Bass Reeves, a great American legend and Western frontier figure who was the first Black deputy US marshal west of the Mississippi River. In the series, "Selma" actor David Oyelowo plays the role of Reeves alongside a stacked ensemble that includes Dennis Quaid and Donald Sutherland.

The story of Bass Reeves is remarkable: the real figure behind the dramatized series was born into slavery and, according to some reports, managed to capture more than 3,000 outlaws throughout his career as a deputy US marshal, all while enduring the hardships of racism and prejudice in a post-Civil War America. "I think that audiences today need to see stories of triumph,...

Lawmen: Bass Reeves – The Truth Behind the Real Life Legend
Image
This article contains no spoilers for Lawmen: Bass Reeves but does discuss details of the real Bass Reeve’s story.

While audiences have fallen in love with Yellowstone (and perhaps a little out of love since the delay in production due to the myriad of Hollywood strikes and behind-the-scenes drama of the show), its storytelling universe has grown exponentially. With all the proposed spinoffs and pre-existing prequels, fans are now looking at nearly half a dozen shows within this amazing world that reminds Americans about their bearish beginnings and how the West was really formed. Yet none of the cowboy inspired chaos and horse-driven drama is grounded in reality as much as the newly-released Lawmen: Bass Reeves, which is produced by Yellowstone‘s Taylor Sheridan and created by Chad Feehan.

While Bass Reeves is no longer categorized as a spinoff to the fictional 1883 that Sheridan created, it’s interesting to...

‘Lawmen: Bass Reeves’: David Oyelowo on ‘Empowered’ True Story of Legendary Lawman
Image
Legendary lawman of the Old West Bass Reeves is often considered the inspiration for the iconic Lone Ranger. But Reeves’ own story is just as captivating, perhaps more so because it’s true. Now, 113 years after his death, the first Black deputy U.S. marshal west of the Mississippi finally gets top billing. David Oyelowo stars as Reeves in this new drama series executive produced by Yellowstone and Mayor of Kingstown cocreator Taylor Sheridan. Born into slavery, Reeves was forced to fight for the Confederacy during the Civil War. At one point, he escaped and spent years living with Native Americans and learning their languages. It was a skill that helped him get recruited as a deputy marshal in Arkansas after the passage of the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery. Over a 32-year career, Reeves arrested thousands of felons—more than 3,000, by some accounts—without ever suffering a wound. The...

Power Rangers Just Proved The Sad Truth About Zords & Megazords
Image
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury demonstrates that the show is better with fewer and shorter Zord and Megazord battles, avoiding the repetitive and weightless feel of previous seasons. The show takes a slightly more realistic approach to Zord battles, with most of them happening in space rather than on Earth, setting the stage for a potential Power Rangers reboot with a more grounded and special feel. A Power Rangers reboot could reinvent the format of the show, saving the Megazord battles for crucial moments in the season and making them feel more special.

Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, the new Power Rangers season, confirms the sad truth about what Zords and Megazords really mean for the show. Since Jason first called for Megazord power in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, mecha fights have been an essential part of the series. Each Power Rangers season introduces a brand new set of Zords, most of...

Marvel Made The Weirdest Superhero Ever Officially MCU Canon
Image
Warning! This post contains Spoilers for Loki season 2, episode 2

Loki season 2 introduces the obscure Marvel character Phone Ranger, who is featured on a movie poster in episode 2. Phone Ranger is a very minor superhero in the comics, with only three appearances and a ridiculous costume. The inclusion of Phone Ranger as a fictional movie superhero within the canon opens the door for other obscure Marvel characters to become part of the McU's own superhero movie genre as well.

Loki season 2 has made one of the strangest and most obscure Marvel Comics characters part of the official MCU canon. Thanks to the Time Variance Authority and the wonder of time travel, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) are on the hunt for Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) on the Sacred Timeline, searching for the rogue Loki variant who killed Jonathan Majors' He Who Remains in Loki season 1. However, a blink-and-you-miss-it...

Lord Zedd’s New Evil Ranger In Power Rangers Is Even Scarier Than Tommy's Green Ranger
Image
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury introduces a new Evil Ranger, Ollie, who is just as scary, if not scarier, than the iconic Mighty Morphin Green Ranger. Ollie's transformation into an evil Ranger is a result of Lord Zedd's brainwashing, adding a new layer of complexity to his character. Ollie's status as a long-time friend of the Power Rangers makes his role as the evil Blue Ranger even more challenging and emotionally impactful for the team.

Power Rangers’ Lord Zedd has a new Evil Ranger in Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, and this new villain managed to be as scary as the Mighty Morphin Green Ranger, if not more. Power Rangers Cosmic Fury celebrated the franchise’s 30th anniversary with a nostalgia-filled season that revisited beloved friends and foes. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Blue Ranger Billy Cranston was the mentor to a new generation of Rangers who now had to take on the Emperor of Evil Lord Zedd.

Power Rangers’ First Orange Ranger Explained (& Why It Took 30 Years)
Image
Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Power Rangers Cosmic Fury.

Power Rangers Cosmic Fury introduces the show's first Orange Ranger after 30 years, fulfilling a long-time fan wish. The Orange Ranger is a rarity in the Super Sentai series that Power Rangers is based on, with only a few shows featuring an Orange Ranger. The inclusion of an Orange Ranger in Cosmic Fury is even more important considering that the show may have been the end of the current Power Rangers chronology.

Power Rangers finally has an Orange Ranger 30 years later thanks to Power Rangers Cosmic Fury’s Fern, played by Jacqueline Joe. Since 1993’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the franchise has seen dozens of seasons, multiple teams, and hundreds of Power Rangers. However, some Power Rangers colors are far more common than others. For example, every Power Rangers team includes a Red Ranger, whereas not every season has a Green or White Ranger.
