The Artful Dodger season 2 gets a new update, with a behind-the-scenes image confirming that filming is underway. Created by James McNamara, David Maher and David Taylor, the Hulu series serves as a sequel to Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist. The show stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster as the eponymous thief, Jack Dawson, and follows the character as he struggles to balance his double life as a surgeon in Australia in the 1850s. Charlotte Moore, the current chief content officer of the BBC, is set to join London’s Sony-owned Left Bank Pictures as the company’s the new CEO.

In an additional dual capacity Moore has also been appointed to the newly created role of executive VP, creative director across Sony Pictures Television (Spt) International Production Group.

In her role as as Left Bank CEO, Moore succeeds Andy Harries who on Wednesday announced he will transition to an executive chair role after 18 years at the helm of the storied company behind “The Crown,” among other high-profile titles.

Knight comes off less like a master storyteller here than a highly enthusiastic autodidact learning new things and then flailing a bit in making connections. That just means that, at its worst, A Thousand Blows — which caps these first six episodes with a “To Be Continued” title card and clips from additional upcoming episodes — will send interested observers online in search of the true stories about all-female criminal gangs, nascent gloved boxing and 19th-century concert hall performers.

British broadcasting union Bectu is launching what it is calling its largest ever survey of those working behind the scenes in TV and film. The union is asking workers across the UK’s creative industries about their experiences and views on key issues facing the sector, including pay, employment practices, mental health and wellbeing and finances. The move comes with the freelance workforce in a perilous position, with thousands exiting the sector as they struggle for work and grapple with low pay and poor conditions. Disney+ and Hulu have given the hit Australian original a second season, with Thomas Brodie-Sangster returning as the cheeky thieving title character, aka Jack Dawkins, along with series regulars David Thewlis (Fagin) and Maia Mitchell (Lady Belle Fox).

They’ll lead an ensemble cast of Australian and New Zealand cast with “several new faces in exciting cameos.”

Filming will begin in 2025 at Callan Park in Sydney, picking up where the “heart’s desires of Dodger, Fagin and Lady Belle left off, promising more cunning thievery, snappy humor, life-and-death surgeries, and romance with a twist.”

The series is billed as an “an irreverent follow-up to Charles Dickens’ ‘Oliver Twist’, exploring his adult double life in the far-flung penal colony of Port Victory, Australia.” Brodie-Sangster’s Dawkins has turned his fast, pickpocketing fingers into the skilled hands of a surgeon.

Kaitlyn Dever, who plays the much-hated Abby in season 2 of HBO's much-loved video game adaptation The Last of Us, will also appear in an upcoming Netflix series titled Apple Cider Vinegar, the streaming platform announced via press release. Dever is also listed as an executive producer of the project, which is expected to hit Netflix sometime in 2025.

Luke Hemsworth has joined the cast of Australian cop comedy Deadloch‘s second season on Prime Video.

Filming has begun on “Return to Paradise,” an Australian spin-off series of the global hit murder mystery franchise “Death in Paradise.” With filming in locations across Sydney and the Illawarra coastal region, the six-part whodunit is produced by BBC Studios Productions Australia with Red Planet Pictures for the ABC in association with the BBC. The BBC will screen the series on BBC One and iPlayer in the U.K. It will be distributed globally by BBC Studios.
