Nobody under 18 should see this film. Also, pet lovers, if you love cats especially, please skip this movie altogether unless you want PTSD.
Watched this on Prime the other day. It's excellent! I hear that it received positive reception at Cannes Film Festival. Everyone involved in the making of this film should be honoured that they made an original fearless drama that tackles obstacles of such dark subject matters.
Grace, Jonnie, Earl, Ian, Sally and of course Valentine are outstanding in this. Their performances kept me hooked and on the edge of my seat throughout most of it. Two hours well spent on this film. The negative reviews are from people who don't understand the film. Paul Hills, we hope you continue to make more films like this.
The central actors, the two female leads, excellent. I bought into the story and given the acting by the two women, and their relationship, I carried on being entertained. When our lead, is so close to...okay, I can't say it but it was all good! The dialogue good, our male lead, also good. The final 2 scenes were not as strong; the ending felt rushed. It was a disappointment for me.
I had stumbled across The Power and was surprised by it. NO, no cats were hurt in the making of this film - that, they made very obvious. Solid four star film for me. LIKE!

Fans of Rosemary's Baby and Hereditary cannot miss this powerful horror movie. Abducted and imprisoned by a cult, Magda awakens in a filthy cell. Despite hearing distant voices, her screams for help go unanswered. In time, she befriends another hostage, a girl who provides some comfort, while the cult prepare their demonic dark ritual. A compelling dark and great film made by Paul Hills with such a great cast. Valentine Pelka is marvellous as the main villain in it. So cold and calculating that he's entertaining the whole way through. Very dark ending as well which leaves the audience wanting more.
The Power is an excellent thriller/horror hybrid that uses the mystery of what is going on to draw the audience in and keep them invested in the film. At its heart, it is a psychological thriller built upon the shifting loyalties and hidden motivations of its central characters. When it shifts gears into more visceral horror late in the game, it does so naturally and in a way that makes complete sense within the story. A strong cast, headed by an amazing and dedicated performance by Grace Vallorani, contributes greatly to the success of the film. Those looking for a creepy, disturbing, and thought-provoking psychological horror film that does not shy away from the gore when it is called for should be sure to check out.
