    Going To The Dogs

Bobby Burns gets bad news: a friend of his has been elected maor. He has appointed Burns the municipal dog catcher, and now his wife expects him to go to work. Sje insists he come back with at least a couple of dogs. Happily, he finds the stuffed dogs much easier to catch, even if their young owners object, and Walter Stull is tagging along to make fun of him.

Like most of their comedies, it is a primitive effort, with the sort of gag construction that might have been considered novel eight years earlier. But screen comedy, particularly American slapstick had moved right along. As much as I enjoy seeing the variety of dogs in this picture, it's not very good for 1916.
