    Missing Title Cards

The IMDb synopsis reads "A rich man lures a wife, abandons her, and is thrashed by her husband." It's a good thing it's there, because without that, I could not be sure what is going on. I'm also unsure why, when the rich man orders the woman out of his home -- after, presumably, having had his wicked way with her -- she is wearing a long, white dress, but when she arrives at her house, she's wearing a darker one.

The acting is grand and dramatic, with "Go and never darken my doorstep again!" gestures. It is, in short, a poorly directed movie, even when considered against the backdrop of movie-making in 1906. Title cards might have helped, if only to inform the audience of what was happening, but not enough to render this particularly cinematic.
