On a stormy night, 2 criminals on the run, one bleeding badly arrive at an isolated farmhouse. Living there is a family - the mother (Joely Richardson), her daughter and paralysed husband. The mother has the skills to stop the bleeding, but one of the men pulls a gun and takes control, calling his boss to come and pick him up. However, it soon becomes clear to the men that this family unit is not what it seems.
Clever little thriller - not really a horror - which with all its twists and turns and changes of allegiances bring you with the story rather than just dumps the next twist in your lap like a jump scare. Everyone in it is very good, especially Richardson as the tough and mysterious matriarch and Harry Cadby as one of the crooks with troubling mental health issue.

Not a horror movie, but definitely a thriller.... This was a decent little watch, nothing new, but the acting was good, the pacing smooth and the atmosphere worked. Maybe it's just because I have kids, but I'm not sure why people are saying these are all new faces to acting because the Mother (Joely Richardson) I will never forget as Anita from the live action 101 Dalmatians with Glenn Close. She also had a decent part in nip/tuck, and was in Event Horizon and The Patriot, as well as quite a few small parts here and there in other things including more stuff parents would see with teenage daughters. So while not a big name she should be recognizable to many.... Now, I realize these parts span the genre's but I guess I figured most people watch a variety of things like I do. Maybe they just never recognized her? Anyway, there were some other cast that I have seen as well in stuff, like the daughter also being in the Winx saga (again teenage daughter in this house lol) Although most haven't been in the sheer number of things that Richardson has. That said, while this was predictable, it was worth a watch. Especially if you like the home invasion type movies where the roles flip and the aggressors become the targets... I do like these types of movies and enjoyed it. A solid 5 to 5 1/2 stars, decent but forgettable once seen. Worth a watch though if looking for something you haven't seen yet.
I had this on my radar for quite some time but never could find it as I was looking for "Little Bone Lodge" when the title on streaming is "The Last Exit". I far more like the title "Little Bone Lodge" but that is neither here nor there.
This was more interesting than I thought it was going to be. It had quite a few intriguing aspects and was a very layered story. It had many building blocks that I have seen before but maybe not all together in one story. I think some of the intrigue was dimmed a bit due to its predictability, but it was still there nonetheless.
The pacing was also just a little off for what it was. I think some of that was due to this movie faining as a horror/thriller, and while there were certainly aspects of each, it felt like mostly a drama to me.
There is no denying the exciting twists and turn throughout this story all while being supported by some pretty stellar performances. I think this was on the edge of being something quite cool but missed just a little bit. Regardless, still above average and would recommend.

It's a stormy night. Mama (Joely Richardson) and Maisy (Sadie Soverall) are celebrating a birthday in their isolated farm with Pa, an immobile black man. Suddenly, there is banging at the door. A young man is demanding entry for him and his injured friend.
I like the opening section. Everybody is acting suspicious and nobody can be trusted. Obviously, Joely Richardson is the big name and face. It would be nice to concentrate more on Maisy. I thought that this would be better as a claustrophobic thriller inside the farm house. Ramp up the storm more and it has a ready made excuse to be imprisoned in a five character play. Anyways, I don't like every turn, but it's a fine little indie as it stands.

This is a movie to my taste. It was recommended to me and I was not disappointed. The story has some unexpected twists that worked perfectly and pretty soon you realize there are more secrets than what meets the eye. The acting was overall very good and each of the actors really did a fantastic job. I was particularly impressed by the dynamic between the two brothers and their intense and complex relationship. The film takes place during a stormy night which adds mystery and atmosphere to the set. It's a low-budget production but often (not always) they surpass bombastic, big-budget Hollywood movies filled with CGI effects. Another this I appreciated was that the action began pretty early so it's not really a slow-burner. The ending is somewhat predictable but all in all this is definitely a film worth watching if you like mystery thrillers. I give it 7 out of 10 easily.

- GoofsWhen PC Adams arrives at the Lodge he would have followed procedure and transmitted 'Status 6' (On Scene) - to his Control Room. They would then have scheduled 15 minute welfare checks as he was Single Crewed. At the first missed check they would have sent backup. Furthermore, at any point he could have activated the Emergency Button on the top of his Sepura Tetra body radio - a press of only 2 seconds activates an alarm and an 'open mike' and would have brought every available unit to his location swiftly.
