Vapid, self-important and painful. Was hoping for honest renovations, meaning the nitty gritty of the challenges and how to make the homes better. Alas, the honest in the title is the featuring of a shopping trip at the Honest products showroom.
Freshman level design choices and grey almost everywhere. Plus a lot of tension between the hosts. One a real designer and the other a celebrity fake. Such a bummer. But when celebrities are involved it's often difficult to not let them make themselves the center of attention. Love her Honest products business and her intent, but this show is embarrassing. Always glad to see women producing, and she needed a pro who could reign her in and create a show with substance.

Basically the entire purpose of this renovation show is for Honest Company product placement. It's literally in the name, so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised.
What else is in the name? "Holiday."
Unfortunately they way under-delivered on the "holiday" thing. Watching it I completely forgot the show had anything to do with the holidays. In fact, they had to keep clipping to random holiday imagery that had nothing to do with the home they were renovating just to remind the audience that this show had anything remotely to do with the holidays. Finally at the end they breezed through dressing up the house for the holidays. And the holiday decorations they did use were not very impressive. I was very underwhelmed, especially since the reason I watched was specifically for holiday decoration ideas.
That being said, I generally did like the stylistic choices they made in the home renovation. They did use a little bit of "millennial gray" but not overwhelmingly so. I'd be happy if they renovated my house.

Another reno show with hosts wearing beautiful street clothes, fully made up, swinging sledge hammers for the camera. Just ridiculous. Too much time spent on the emotional stuff! The one I watched today was more than 15 minutes in before they got to discussing any actual renovation ideas. I know it's important to make the emotional connection of an uncomfortable home to the finished product now supporting the owner's new life, but really, enough of the boo hooing! Product placement very much in evidence here, shouldn't be surprised, I guess, given the name of the show. Hosts, please stop trying to participate in the work - it's unneccessary and painful to watch.
I, absolutely, applaud all that you do to help these families live a more enjoyable life, just by repairing their home. It means so much to be able to enjoy your home.
Do you limit your help only to families? I ask because I am a 74 year old senior. I live alone in my house that is unsafe for me in some places. I have a very limited income that doesn't allow me to move. I really need HELP! I've been searching for grants for home improvement, but with no success. The one that I did sign up for, had loop holes that found me at a disadvantage.
I'm just trying to put myself in the way of a miracle.
Thank you! Ms Dorothy Turner.

There are so many renovation shows out there that come in, rip everything out, and then replace it all with cookie cutter soulless colorless trash.
This show has such good vibes! They infuse all the spaces with character instead of making them white boxes and the premise of making homes more functional for families is so beautiful! I love when they show bits of organization and processes that make your house more efficient so viewers can take that information and make their own houses run more smoothly with it. I hope that this show gets many more seasons! The families featured are also so deserving of a better lifestyle and these designers are very thoughtful of function and each family members personality. Probably one of my favorite reno shows now.
