A new film set for production in Italy next month will recount the remarkable true story that launched Maserati, one of the world’s most renowned luxury car brands. With Jessica Alba and veteran actors Anthony Hopkins, Michele Morrone, and Andy Garcia starring, “Maserati: The Brothers” aims to bring the pioneering Italian entrepreneurs behind the iconic name to life on the big screen.

Directed by Bobby Moresco, known for his work on “Crash,” the film will focus on brothers Alfieri, Ettore, and Ernesto Maserati, who founded the company in 1914 in a small garage workshop in Bologna. There they pursued their shared passion and ambition to innovate in the growing automotive industry. While their early efforts met with success racing prototypes, the story also grappled with personal tragedy that has become part of Maserati’s legacy.

Alfieri Maserati’s fatal crash during the 1927 Messina Cup race at age 44 will feature prominently in the film.

She joins Anthony Hopkins, Michele Morrone and Andy Garcia in the film about the brothers behind the iconic Italian car. Alba will play the “pivotal” character of Sandra. Garcia will play Mr. Rossini. Morrone will star as brother Alfieri Maserati. Hopkins will play an Italian financier who bankrolls the family.

The film will be produced by Italy’s Andrea Iervolino his new film and TV outfit called The Andrea Iervolino Company and directed by Oscar winner Bobby Moresco (Crash). Filming is due to get underway at the end of next month in Italy.

Maserati was founded in 1914 in a garage in the central Italian city of Bologna by three brothers: Alfieri, Ettore and Ernesto. From its early days, the company – which is now known for luxury cars — was connected to the world of car racing.

Regina Hall and her Rh Negative production company have struck an exclusive first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios’ MGM Alternative that will see the actress and her team develop and produce original unscripted true crime, ensemble docuseries and game genres.

The first series to go into development under the pact is “Squad Games” (working title), a competition series where celebrities and their real-life BFFs go on an exotic getaway and participate in wild challenges. The project is loosely inspired on Hall’s 2017 film “Girls Trip,” which she starred in with Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Tiffany Haddish.

The pair have agreed a deal that will see Fifth Season selling Roku originals in Latin American and Canadian distribution rights. Fifth Season has also picked up rights to new seasons of Roku shows.

When they first struck the unscripted distribution pact in November last year, the U.S., Canada and Latin America were excluded. Major Series Adaptation Renewals at Netflix, Prime Video

Late last week, Prime Video announced a Season 2 renewal for its recent hit adaptation of "Fallout," starring Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Walton Goggins. Based on the hit video game franchise of the same name, "Fallout" is set 200 years after the apocalypse, when "the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind...and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them."
