Keshet International has set its slate for Mipcom, with highlights including thriller “Too Much Love,” docuseries “Sas: Catching the Criminals” and rom-com “Save the Date.”

“Too Much Love” (“L’homme qui aimait trop”) from Slovakian prodco Piknik Pictures is an eight-episode thriller with a twist based on Duo Productions’ Canadian format. It tells the story of a man whose two wives meet for the first time after he is hospitalized following a car accident. The show is set to premiere in Slovakia this September on free-to-air broadcaster TV Joj.

Factual series “Sas: Catching the Criminals” is a 10-part acquisition (format and tape) from Double Act about an ex-Sas leader who works alongside Britain’s enforcement agencies to deploy covert intelligence, surveillance and disruption tactics against offenders. It is expected to premiere on the BBC in the U.K. this fall.

“The Boys” star Tomer Capone is set to play a besotted suitor in a new romantic comedy series from Keshet International titled “Save the Date,” Variety has learned.

Starring comedian and “Dancing With the Stars (Israel)” winner Adi Havshush in the lead role, “Save the Date” follows the story of Dassy, a wedding planner who finds herself in a relationship slump after her longtime partner makes a shocking revelation. Turning to her grandmother for comfort, Dassy reluctantly agrees to take part in an ancient spell to summon her one true love – except instead of one, her overzealous bubbie manages to conjure up four suitors who set out to win Dassy’s heart.

“With a high-stakes wedding to organize in just two weeks for her high school nemesis, Dassy must navigate this romantic chaos and decide which man – if any – leads to her own happily ever after,” reads the synopsis for the six-part limited series.

Exclusive: Michael Mohan, the filmmaker behind Neon’s recent horror pic Immaculate, produced by and starring Sydney Sweeney, has joined the roster at management and production company Range Media Partners.

Released in theaters in March, following its premiere at SXSW, Mohan’s Immaculate follows Cecilia (Sweeney), a woman of devout faith who is offered a fulfilling new role at an illustrious Italian convent. Her warm welcome to the picture-perfect Italian countryside is soon interrupted as it becomes clearer to Cecilia that her new home harbors some dark and horrifying secrets.

The film was critically acclaimed, if only a modest success at the box office, at a gross exceeding $28 million. Mohan directed from a script by Andrew Lobel.

The world premiere of Scottish writer-director Johnny Barrington‘s debut feature “Silent Roar” will open the 2023 Edinburgh International Film Festival on Aug. 18. Billed as a “teenage tale of surfing, sex and hellfire” set in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides, the film stars emerging actor Louis McCartney as Dondo, a young surfer struggling to accept his father’s recent disappearance at sea. Caught up in grief, he is brought to his senses by rebellious crush Sas (Ella Lily Hyland), a high achiever who dreams of escaping the island. When an oddly-behaved new minister arrives on the island, Dondo begins to have cosmic visions.

The film is produced by Scottish producer Chris Young (“The Inbetweeners Movie”) and was made with the participation of Screen Scotland, BBC Films and BFI. MK2 Films is handling sales.

Carleton Carpenter, an actor whose lanky, aw-shucks cornpone good looks made him a familiar supporting presence opposite such leading ladies as Debbie Reynolds, Judy Garland and Elizabeth Taylor throughout the 1950s, died today in Warwick, New York, following years of declining health. He was 95.

His death was announced by spokesperson Kevin McAnarney.

Born Carleton Upham Carpenter in Bennington, Vermont, Carpenter served as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy during World War II, helping to build the airstrip from which the Enola Gay would later take off for its flight to Hiroshima. By the time of the 1945 atomic bombing, Carpenter had started his Broadway career with a role in David Merrick’s 1944 production Bright Boy.

Other Broadway roles would arrive in quick succession: Carpenter appeared in Three to Make Ready with Ray Bolger (1944), The Magic Touch (1947), John Murray Anderson’s Almanac (1953) and Hotel Paradiso (1957).

Carpenter’s TV and film credits developed alongside his stage career.

Carleton Carpenter, who performed on stage and screen alongside stars such as Debbie Reynolds in “Two Weeks With Love” and Judy Garland in “Summer Stock,” died Monday in Warwick, N.Y., according to his reps. He was 95.

Carpenter was a multi-hyphenate artist whose career spanned eight decades. His 1950 duet with Debbie Reynolds covering the song “Aba Daba Honeymoon” sold more than a million copies. He performed in countless radio, television and film productions and on stages on- and off-Broadway. He even went on to write a number of books, including his 2017 memoir, “The Absolute Joy of Work.”

Born Carleton Upham Carpenter Jr. on July 10, 1926 in Bennington, Vt., Carpenter attended Bennington High School and served as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended the National High School Institute for Theatre Arts at Northwestern University and began his performance career as a clown and magician at carnivals.

Comedy and thrillers stand out as the dominant genres of this year’s selection, which also takes in animation production (Manuel Alejandro Vivas’ “Sombras en los juegos”), web series (Andrés Fechtenholz’s “Save the Date”) and interactive microseries “Alt Esc,” by Adrián Garelik.

Three of the stories take place within the framework of sports events, used to construct thrillers or social dramas; a further two look into the consequences of digital addiction for people.

Nickelodeon is expanding the world of its popular toon “The Loud House” with the multicultural spinoff “The Casagrandes,” which premieres Monday, Oct. 14, at 1:30 p.m. Et/Pt before moving to its regular timeslot on Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. beginning on Oct. 19.

The new series follows Lincoln Loud’s friend 11-year-old Ronnie Anne Santiago, who moves to the big city with her mother and older brother to live with their multigenerational Mexican-American family, the Casagrandes, over their family-owned mercado. Ronnie Anne and her brother Bobby were first introduced on the first season of “The Loud House” in the episode titled “Save the Date.” The extended Casagrande family appeared during season 2 in the episode “Relative Chaos.”

While the series visually still lives in “The Loud House” world, the design of “The Casagrandes” is deeply steeped in Mexican-American culture with its own color palette and designs.

Jon Beavers (The Long Road Home) and Grant Harvey (The Crossing) are set for recurring roles on the upcoming fourth season of TNT’s flagship drama series Animal Kingdom.

Beavers and Harvey play Jake and Colin, respectively, part of a crew living off the grid, committing armed robberies up and down the California coast. Jake is a good-natured, career criminal. His laid back demeanor is in stark contrast to the violent Colin, an emotionally damaged vet.

Animal Kingdom stars Barkin as the matriarch of the Cody crime family, along with Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, Jake Weary and Finn Cole.

Safe to say, A Million Little Things‘ Delilah Dixon has had better weeks.

Remember (as if the show would let you forget!), we’re not that far out from her husband’s suicide. As a result of that terrible event, she ended an affair with the man she loves. And the petals have barely fallen off Jon’s funeral flowers when the secret of her tryst with Eddie becomes public knowledge in this Wednesday’s episode.

The fallout is as painful to watch as you might’ve guessed.

The cast, producers and fans of the Netflix comedy/drama Everything Sucks! will not let the series go gently into that good night of cancellations. Reactions were fast and furious online to the news that the 1990s-set series from writers Ben York Jones (Like Crazy) and Michael Mohan (Save the Date) was being axed by Netflix after one season.

Created by Jones and Mohan, the series followed two groups of high school misfits, an A/V club and a drama club, who collide in 1996 Oregon. It starred Peyton Kennedy and Jahi Winston as students Kate Messner and Luke O’Neil, with Patch Darragh and Claudine Nako as their respective parents. The 1990s-set series, a Netflix production, hailed from writers Ben York Jones (Like Crazy) and Michael Mohan (Save the Date) and producers Midnight Radio. It had premiered to mixed reviews.

The latest promo for “Crisis On Earth-x” gives us our best look yet at the upcoming Arrowverse crossover, which is arriving later this month. Dungeons and Dragons was one of the many, many cultural references peppered throughout the inaugural season of Stranger Things, but the inclusion of the iconic fantasy board game wasn’t a means of pandering to pent-up ’80s nostalgia – far from it.

By calling on the Upside Down and the monstrous Demogorgon, the cast of fearless youngsters was able to pinpoint the whereabouts of Will Byers and, by effect, relay the show’s more fantastical elements to the audience without the need for ham-fisted exposition. D&D clearly holds a special place in the hearts of the Stranger Things‘ creators, and if a trailer breakdown by /Film is any indication, the Dungeons and Dragons game known as Ravenloft will factor into the upcoming second season.

It's not every day that three coordinated promotional bombshells get released on the same day. So, it's exciting news when we found out, via twitter, that Marvel, Square Enix, And EA/Bioware will be doing so tomorrow! With each of them announcing it in their own special way.

Kicking it off like a well-mannered host, Marvel used their twitter page to deliver a well-received Save the Date for Tomorrow, January 26, at 9am Cst/10am Est.

What could they be revealing? It's unclear, but my money would be on a Thor: Ragnarok trailer. So far, we've seen the title, the synopsis, even concept art, the only thing we're missing is a trailer to put it all together.

Like mother, like daughter. The Real Girl’s Kitchen host Haylie Duff and her baby girl Ryan Ava, 18 months, are both foodies at heart.

“Funny enough, she loves stewed okra,” Duff told People while hosting a dinner on behalf of T.J.Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods for their “Bring Back the Holidays” campaign on Nov. 10.
