I've never played the Battlefield series. Sure I downloaded a demo and got a few kicks out of it, but nothing really engaged me; save for the WW2 setting of one of the games. That's just about it as far as I'm concerned.
But now I'm into Battlefield 3 and by the looks of it, needless to say, I'm REALLY impressed of how realistic and hectic it really is. With exceptional sound, I felt like I was really in a war zone, fighting through terrorists with an arsenal of weapons and vehicles such as tanks and jets; though their use is sadly limited as I've always wanted more variety and things to do in a game. But in one action set piece, you get to drive a tank through a Middle Eastern city blowing up not only tanks, but the whole freakin' scenery along with the terrorist forces. I've always wanted to drive a tank in a video game(and maybe, possibly in real life) and blow the sh*t out of things. Thankfully, Battlefield 3 gave me that opportunity.
Speaking of scenery, the graphics are really great with lots of detail in the levels and billboard signs, all in various languages, giving the game a cultural feel amidst the backdrop of war, in the field and covertly. But I was a little disappointed that the single-player mode should've been a lot longer with more missions and variety of tasks to do in said missions. Hopefully, in the next game the developers can focus on making a more lengthy single-player mode with a better story and more choices on how to approach a mission with different tactics. Since this is my first time to the series and that I have enjoyed the multiplayer aspect of the game, I'm willing to get more games in the series but for now, I'll be itching to see what EA and co can do with the inevitable Battlefield 4.

Has most of us, i have been waiting for this game since it was announced. but when it's finally here, is it worth it? lets start with MP. It's amazing, the realistic battlefield combat action is totally worth it, and i often find myself looking at the scenery for minutes. the vehicles, the guns and the graphics are just beautiful. but it isn't flawless, for example, the air vehicles are not even, one jet got heat seekers and IR flares while the other one got nothing. but if you find yourself running through the battlefield towards the objective, just find yourself a vehicle. there is a co-op mod which i find pretty entertaining. Now the Sp (Singleplayer). the story mode is OK. i find it pretty similar to the CoD campaigns (MW), but we aren't here to talk about CoD. what battlefield does is that it gives you new experience every time you play it, even if it's awesome battles with your friend or co-op it always gives you something fresh, something new and lets not forget epic battles. this is definitely one of my favorite games of the year. i give 9.5, the single-player took it down a bit, but hey it's still awesome.
Battlefield 3 is an outstanding game. The new engine Frostbite 2 is really amazing. It makes the graphics of the game detailed and impressive. I got this game all because of its multi-player because I heard many reviews and comments from friends all saying that the multi-player is great. The single-player or campaign of the game is okay. It's your old find terrorist and kill him plot but its still fun to play.
I have not really tried the co-op part of the game but i presume it is fun. The gameplay is very realistic and there are many heart pounding sequences especially when enemies are shooting at you with bullets nearby missing your head creating a whizzing sound and a blur on your screen. A comment I have to make is that the guns looks aren't very realistic :(. At some points of the game they sort of look like toys.
Overall Battlefield 3 is a great and impressive game and I strongly suggest buying it for it will be worth your money. I give it a 9.2

Battlefield 3 is a solid military shooter. Gorgeous visuals, an amazing sound design, solid voice acting, and high levels of polish. The multiplayer is some of the best in the modern military shooter genre, and the modes and variety of maps are awesome.
The campaign makes one wonder what the point even was for DICE to try however. It's embarrassing whenever it tries to copy Call of Duty, it's like that wannabe kid who tries to ape the popular kid but looks like a dork. It's too on rails, lacks interactivity, and the story is uninteresting and lacks stakes and likable or interesting characters.

How on Earth is this rated lower than CoD?
It is far superior in every single way. If you don't yet own this game- buy it (I recommend it on BF3 or PC). The campaign, co-op and multi player is fantastic, I really recommend it to any shooter fan, it really puts the fun back into games- CoD sucks it out of you- it's over-intense, boring game play is pitiful compared to that of Battlefield.
Buy this game. It really impresses the way it runs, the animation, the vehicles, the social aspect of it. You can chose to play seriously with a group of 4, running around and just having a really intense, timeless game- or play for the fun of it, doing so-called 'Kamikaze' or getting jokey kills- it's up to you. Plus, it's great even just to go as a 'lone wolf'- sniping alone for example is still pretty great, although it's still more easy ans fun with others.
In summary, I strongly urge you to buy this game. Now!

- TriviaThe weapons in the game feature accurate reloading, something not seen in many games. They show "wet reloading", which is reloading with a round in the chamber, and "dry reloading", which is when the gun is completely empty. Shotguns even have the first shell loaded into the breach on a dry reload.
- GoofsIn the Mission "Going Hunting", the Mehrabad airport seems to be in the middle of the desert with a few buildings around it. In reality, the airport is located in a very urban and populated area and has little to no unoccupied land around it.
