This is a great way to learn more about the catholic faith. It will renewed your interest and appreciation of the Holy Mass Do not be discourage that is an animated movie. Its content is amazing. The movie is based on visionaries, it is not fiction. Great to watch with the family. The Most Reverend David L. Ricken, Bishop of the Diocese of Green Bay, said of this film: "The Greatest Miracle draws the viewer into the Mass by artistically portraying what we as Catholics believe to be taking place, but what we as human beings are incapable of perceiving with our earthy senses. It beautifully depicts the moment of the Consecration as a continuation of Christ's sacrifice on Calvary, and it celebrates the way in which we "
unite ourselves with the heavenly liturgy and anticipate eternal life, when God will be all in all." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1326) The film is well worth seeing!
Cartooning is only ok, message is better. I didn't think purgatory existed after Vatican II in 1968. Basically a decent explanation of my Catholic faith.
It's okay to make an animated religious movie, with things that teach you about the bible like heaven, hell, predictions, etc. But I regret to tell you that instead of being a good movie, it is only a humorous movie without any grace and without so much sense. We have films such as: the prince of Egypt (1998), Jose the king of dreams (2000), the passion of Christ (2004) and many more; And now this? No, this cannot be.
When the world struggles to explain what The Holy Mass is this movie makes the event digestible and also memorable. A lot of the animation around the Mass is understood via reading the Revelation however reading the Revelation is not required.
For me having read Revelation helped visualise how the Mass is the portal that unifies the Earth and Heavens due to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
The rating is based on the movie's meaningful content and not animation or other technological marvels. However, I'd also state that the background score from Mark Mckenzie is also awesome.
From a local Parish perspective this movie helps during disipleship or Alpha programs.

- TriviaThe bus is going to Barranca, which is not an actual place in Mexico. Barranca could refer to town near Lima (Peru), or near San José (Costa Rica).
- GoofsAt the start of confession, the priest says "Hail purest Mary", to which the woman responds "Concieved without sin". This is a literal translation of the Spanish formula for confession (Ave María puríssima - sin pecado concebida). However, in English, this form doesn't exist. It is custom for the penitent to start confession with "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned."
