If you miss your childhood or school friends, and haven't seen them in a long time, this is the movie to watch. It could make you cry...
I loved Nami's and Su-ji's characters. Thought they should have given Su-ji more screen time at the end.

GIRLS POWER
A feel-good friendship reunion film that among other things, features a played-for-laughs girl-gang fight amidst the backdrop of a 1980's Seoul protest / riot. The writing / plot was also exceptional, and while Sunny has a somewhat sad undertone, it's nicely contrasted with the unbridled freedom and happiness of their teenage years. The movie touches nicely upon a lot of issues, from teenage insecurities to loss to bullying, and provides a nice, realistic, but uplifting take on them. While life in high school may be full of youthful enthusiasm for the future, the movie recognizes that adulthood is different, and often times that youthful enthusiasm turns into guarded cynicism . But rather than accept that, the movie argues that we can still keep some of that optimism and enthusiasm as we age, especially with the support of our close friends As someone who also has a group of close friends, I can completely understand the bonds that these girls have. While we are still extremely close, I know it is inevitable that we will drift apart, like the girls in Sunny, as we move on to different careers and focus on our families. But, Sunny reminds me that these bonds of friendships will always remain, and that our memories of these times will forever tie us togethe

Movie ''Sunny'' I have to say i watched this because i knew one of the actresses from a program, so i gave this movie a shot. And thank god i did.
The movie had it sad moments, but real funny moments too. The movie was moving me to tears but not only the sad moments moved me to tears, the funny parts of the movie did their job good too and on top of that it has some real life story line in it. I cried and laughed while watching and that made me think '' if this was the idea of the movie makers '' ,then he/they did a great job. That's what i want from a movie, this movie was what i want from every good movie.
The movie contains: friendship, comedy and real life. While i was watching the movie, i felt what the characters were feeling. I use to only love happy endings in a movie but i have learned to like/love movies with a bit of sad endings too.
To cut it short.. I loved this movie, it's now one of my favorites.
I recommend it to anyone.

Or can I call it a great movie because its simplicity. Some may think this movie just a fairytale. But the fairytale was capture everybody's heart (yeah well, most of everybody). For me this movie had it all (drama, romance, comedy, even.. action!), all in a certain proportion that made me really sunk to the story.
The simple character, may we encountered in our everyday life or in our past or even in ourselves, (i think) really made the audiences to stay watching and enjoy the plot. The nostalgic feeling really strong in a good way, so we can enjoy the movie more because we were remembering our own happy memory especially with our friends.
Simple movie like this is what we need and what we can call great. Simple story can become a hit is something.
I may sound overly sentimental in this review, but that's how this movie made me, Hope ya'll enjoy it like I did :D

I really shouldn't have liked this movie as much as I did. It's about Korean school girls and their growing up to be women. It's about as foreign to me as you can get.
Yet this, like a lot of other Korean and Japanese movies and TV shows I've been watching lately, is over the top in all the right places. The fight scenes are comical. The bullying in the schools is, I hope, exaggerated. Do Korean teachers really beat their kids up like that? I wish American teachers would do that.
Sunny was almost like the female version of this other Korean movie I saw recently, I believe it was called Brothers. Brothers had a more organized crime tilt; Sunny is more sentimental. Brothers was good; Sunny is great.
But, while I don't usually go for the sentimental flix, this one did it right somehow. It's the best chick flick I've seen in a long time. I'd say Koreans do the comedy/drama genre better than Hollywood ever has and Sunny proves it.

- TriviaThe purpose of music was to make the audience nostalgic with tunes that represent the 80's. The chosen songs highlight special scenes and symbolize important themes. For example, when Joy's "Touch by Touch," the lyrics ironically fit in with the scenes on the screen.
