    Well that was a surprise

Now, I can't say this is a GOOD movie, really. I can say it was far less terrible than I was expecting. It's got ol' Billy Big B@lls in it, albeit very briefly, and that's a highlight. Bobby Lee is someone I'm not too sure about, but he's growing on me, and he's fine in this. The lead character is... tough to deal with, but i somehow think that's the point. The big surprise here for me is James Remar. In pretty much everything I've seen him in I've not been a fan of his performance. It always seems a little too over-dramatic. SOO serious. Always sticks out like a sore thumb. He's actually pretty funny in this. He and, to a lesser extent, the brother, are absolute savages in the way they treat June. He just doesn't GAF, and she's just so unappealing it makes that bullying pretty amusing. Not that I condone bullying, of course. At least until the end, and then of course they have to soften up so the MP gets her way.

In summary, it's all right, except for the lead. Not a glowing recommendation, but I didn't totally hate it. 5/10.

    Funny and Smart

This movie is very funny and lets you bond with almost every character. It has one of the funniest scenes I have ever seen (dream sequence). Esther is a very capable lead. Bobby as a stable, compassionate fatherly figure is genius parody of his professional persona. The movie focuses on the comedy and loosely uses the story as a palette. Get you girl who kisses and dances like Esther, plays like Bhad, and shares your bad food habits like Miranda. Shout out to the squad, they must be loyal beyond belief. Go with a full audience and definitely grab snacks at the theater. Then start watching Trash Tuesday if you aren't already.

Had potential, but it was a disjointed mess.

Drugstore June had the potential to be a captivating film, but unfortunately, it fell flat on nearly every level. The disjointed plot, mismatched music, and lackluster performances left me confused and wondering what I had just watched.

The biggest issue seems to be the misalignment between the script and the actors. It's hard to tell whether the acting was bad because of the poorly written dialogue or if the actors simply weren't up to the task. Honestly, it feels like a combination of both. The story meandered without a clear direction, making it difficult to engage with the characters or care about their fates.

While each actor showed flashes of talent, none of them seemed suited for their roles in this particular film. The main actress, who played June, was clearly the standout. Her performance had depth and potential, but it just didn't mesh with the weak script and chaotic narrative. I can easily imagine her thriving in a different genre, maybe something more intense or character-driven.

In fact, that's true for the entire cast-each actor would likely shine in a different genre or role. It felt like they were all trying to force themselves into characters that didn't suit them. It was like watching a group of talented individuals playing dress-up, rather than fully embodying their roles.

Drugstore June could have been a great film, but its scattered execution and mismatched cast left it feeling unfinished and hollow. There's talent here, but not in the right places.

    Interesting

There is definitely some parody in the first half or so of the movie, June's character especially. It's definitely meant for people of the current TikTok media influencer generation. The only obvious insider thing is Miranda Cosgrove using her favorite curse word a couple times. For me, it's always fun to see Miranda in something, Beverly D'Angelo is great as always, the rest of the cast does well. Laughed out loud often. Esther Povitsky does more stuff hopefully. Kind of movie that people will remember fondly 10 or 15 years from now, maybe not so much now. Product of it's time, genius will be recognized later.

Brain rot and annoying but semi entertaining

I really wanted to like this and sometimes making fun of yourself and purposefully being annoying can be funny in comedy but this made it almost unbearable to watch. I've never been a huge fan of cringe comedy and I'm not sure why my generation needs everything to be cringe. I'm glad she moved on and I love a messy story to breakthrough but not when it's so irritating. There were a lot of great comedians in this, which was a bit surprising considering some of the writing, and I like the idea of the police being useless- and a civilian solving the crime, but it's focused on being so random, quirky, and different that it becomes just hard to watch and takes from the story. Great! We have another movie with another dumb annoying white girl. *eye roll*
