    On My Honor

It's a film record of the Third National Boy Scout Jamboree in 1953. It took place on the Irvine Ranch in California, but spread through tours out to Catalina and Santa Ana. The vast majority of its 50,000 attendees came from the United States and its territories, but there were Scouts from sixteen foreign countries, including England, Japan, and Germany. It attracted dozens of well known movie personalities, who came to entertain the boys, and included speeches by Vice-President Richard M. Nixon and President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

The reputation of the Scouts has been tarnished in recent years. Its concentration on boys now seems sexist. The ideals the Scouts espouse sometimes seem so old-fashioned as to be out of date: friendship, cooperation, involvement. I don't think so, and the film makers did not.
