This new twist on a hallmarkesque pg romcom was surprisingly engaging! Fun to watch with others and discuss the possible choices. You have a chance to go back and redo the last selection and see what happens if you take the plot in a different direction. Yes, all the choices end up in some version of a happily ever after but is that so bad? The heroine is charming and sweet without being too saccharine and there's enough tongue-in-cheek humor to elevate the experience beyond bland fluff. It doesn't take itself too seriously as a film which allows the viewer to just grab the popcorn, sit back with your controller in hand and enjoy!
I don't know how I feel about this new "choose your own adventure" format. I will say that the romantic comedy and maybe a mystery are the two genres that might lend themselves to this format.
I watched two different endings to this romance, one where Cami ends up with perfect Paul and the other where she ends up with rocker Rex, which I don't feel is much of a spoiler since I assume there is also an ending where she ends up with the one that got away Jack. I can't say I had strong feelings about either ending or any of the characters really. Which leads me to what I think was lost in this "choose your own adventure" format...time wasn't spent developing the characters or their romance. It left everything feeling flat and cliched. Maybe the film needs to be longer in order to develop the romance and still allow you to make choices? Either way this film suffered versus benefitted, coming across as very juvenile and unfinished.
I think it was a cute film to try out this new format on, so if you just want to see how the choose your own adventure works...this is an easy no brainer way to do it, but otherwise this is not a recommendation from me.
I did like a couple of Cami's wardrobe pieces, particularly that great yellowy orange she wore.

Characters are awful and dialogues are cringe. All choices feel bad. At least we had a laugh while watching this below average interactive movie. Main character is not really likable at all. We wanted to mix it up as much as possible but we were hoping for a crazier ending. Interactive movies are a cool genre, but I feel that 2 movies that netflix made were underwhelming. We watched in couples, so that's a recommendation if you still decide to watch it. Also, it is not that long, I guess because of our choices but we kept it fun until the end. There should be a choice to end up with your boss, aka the donut guy.
Some people are too sensitive for this film. Choices have to be made during film. Are you going to cheat or not. Do you choose to end long-term relationship or not. Some people apparently can't do this or some feel guilty. I understand it somewhere, but first of all, it's a movie. Secondly, life is also full with chooses. If you are in a long-term relationship it doesn't mean you have to stay with that person forever and is doesn't mean that is good. I do not approve cheating and I would hate if it happens to me. But it happens.
So ... Choose to have a good time by watching this movie with a glass of wine. I enjoyed myself very much. Of course there are nicer movies or better script. But I did not waste my evening watching this movie.
I give this movie a 8 because some people are crybabies. Goodnight!

There is a singing scene between Rex, the rock star, and laura Marano. It is freakishly close to a singing scene in Austin and Ally between Laura marano and Austin--Ros Lynch. Both songs are pretty and there's even a similar "lean on" lyric. And in both Laura Marano plays a singer with stage fright. The scene has very little to do with the actual plot. It's just amazingly close to Austin and Ally. Laura Marano must have had a strong deja vu. Meanwhile I had no idea Rex was Avan Jogia (Beck) from Victorious. He did a good job. I like when actors appear as characters and you don't recognize them at all. The movie is good fun and if you're an Austin and Ally fan you will love the singing scene.
