Awful in 3D, 2D or any dimension

A crazed nurse who spends most of the running time in a state of undress, becomes obsessed with a beautiful female co-worker, and also lures cheating men to their gruesome deaths. Sounds good right? And I ask that without an once of condescension - it does sound good. But it's not. In fact it's awful and perfectly understandable why it collected dust on the shelf for over two years before being dumped in a handful of theaters and VOD. As forgettable as the film is, there would be nothing of value here if it wasn't for Paz de la Huerta. Her line readings are mind bogglingly insane and she's clearly drunk in more than a few scenes. There doesn't seem to be much going on between her ears, except for her synapses misfiring and she comes across like a complete imbecile and/or stroke victim. Whatever her problem is, drugs, booze, low IQ - she's hilarious. There's also voice-over narration throughout the film that is supposed to be Paz, but it's clearly a different actress's voice. It just adds to the absurd nature of this film. A behind the scenes documentary that shows all and tells all, would be far more entertaining than watching the final product. Paz de la Huerta gives a legendary performance of awful.

Dumb the characters down to showcase the ending that it did

    (2013) Nurse 3-D PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR.

Co-written and directed by Douglas Aarniokoski that has veteran nurse,Abbey Russell (Paz de la Huerta) the narrator, greeting newcomer, Danni Rogers (Katrina Bowden) to the profession of nursing. Abbey is also a serial killer who loathes men, all men who cheat on their wives as she had killed at the opening. Abbey also has another objective, and that is to break up Danni with her current boyfriend, Steve (Corbin Bleu) she has known him since college. And as the movie continues, viewers know more about Abbey as soon as the hospital "All Saints" introduces the new person for human resources, Rachel Adams (Melanie Scrofano) and upon her first meeting with Abbey Russell, she initially thought she was someone she had recognized from a mental institution by the name of Sarah Price. And listening to this latest possible revelation is Danni.

After watching this, it is reminiscent of two sources, the first is "The Roommate" because Abbey becomes obsessed with having Danni as a companion despite her already having a boyfriend, who Abbey would even go to the lengths of going after Danni's cheating father-in-law, Larry (Martin Donovan) who happens to be a successful author and therapist. And the second source is "Dexter" because Abbey works at the hospital, that she could use drug inducing methods against her potential victims. My only problem is that the movie dumb down it's characters to provide the ridiculous ending that it did.

I'd really want to rewrite this to make it good

Since I saw the trailer it was clear that this movie is kind of a B- movie. Not so much when you look at the quality of cinematography, editing, stuff like that, but mostly because of the plot, the writing and the acting, which was weirdly porn-y and just uncomfortable, especially when it comes to Paz de la Huerta, who played the nurse Abby Russell.

The plot actually made me think about American Psycho 2, and how I've often said that movie would be way better if you just took away all the American Psycho references. Nurse is incredibly similar to American Psycho 2, but it's hard to say if it's a good thing. On the other hand there's blood and gore, more than in American Psycho 2, but the story doesn't seem as rich.

The movie was surprisingly colourful and looked really nice. Only problem is we didn't see it in 3D, which I guess is somewhat the point, so sometimes some effects look really tacky. Are they less or more tacky with 3D?

Nurse is an alright horror movie. There are so many things I'd like to change about it to make it even better, though. It has potential, but doesn't reach it. Still, fun to watch at least once.

Can't believe I watched the whole thing...

One of the worst things I have seen in a long time! The only saving grace was Katrina Bowden. I don't think I've ever said this but there was just way to much nudity, that even felt wrong typing, but it's all the movie is. It's like they knew they had a stinker so they threw in a bunch of T&A and hoped no one would notice how bad it was. Well, I noticed and I want a refund.

Paz De La Huerta CAN NOT act. It was like watching someone run their fingernails across a chalkboard. Yes, it was that bad. Save yourself some money, more importantly, save yourselves the hour and a half of your life that you'll never get back. Stay away, stay very far away.....

Underrated killer film, Paz de la Huerta is memorable.

Abby Russell is a dedicated nurse, but by night she kills cheating men. Things go awry for the perfect murderer when she becomes infatuated with a one night stand.

Reminiscent of American Psycho and what could have been a more fitting sequel than American Psycho 2 it's well shot by director Doug Aarniokoski with wit and campy coolness as Abby (Paz de la Huerta) murders cheating men and obsesses over co-worker Danni played with finesse by Katrina Bowden.

Writer David Loughery successfully takes a leaf from of Single White Female. Aarniokoski embraces its B-movie trashiness yet still manages to highlight the dangers of date rape drugs and non-consensual sex and internet photos. It's not DTV material, it's filmatic and looks modestly budgeted with good production values. There's a fitting noir voice over from De la Huerta who also offers a great performance. The effects are great, there's a high body count and plenty of gruesome fun to enjoy.

Yes there's naked flesh on display but this should not to be labelled as a gratuitous lurid exploitation flick and although the title is somewhat misleading, Nurse is ridiculously compulsive, horrific and sexy from start to finish with a memorable crazy central character played excellently.

Certainly a horror worth checking out.

      [first lines]

Abby Russell: My name is Abigail Russell. I look like a slut. But don't be fooled, this is merely a disguise to lure the dangerous predators who walk among us. This is their jungle. Their breeding ground. And tonight I'm on the hunt. These are the cheaters - the married lying scum. They are like diseased cells, cultured in alcoholic petri dishes, but destroy unsuspecting families, and infect millions of innocent vaginas. There is not cure for the married cock. Only me, the Nurse.
