Started out okay but quickly degenerated into the characters making progressively dumber decisions, as per the usual formula. The "twist" in the film was beyond ridiculous and pretty much just felt like a cheat. Cap it with an incredibly stupid ending, and The Hoarder goes from a somewhat below-average horror film to a must-avoid-at-all-costs stinker. The early attempts in the film to establish atmosphere are about the only positive things I can say about it.
This wouldn't be so bad, if it weren't for the clichés and some of the actors (for various reasons, either while they probably can't do any better or because their roles have been underwritten). Take Mischa Barton: She was "working" perfectly in OC, but since then has not found a place in the "acting"/movie business.
But while the movie does pack a punch or two (the ending is either too good for the movie or will annoy you, because the movie seemed to go to a different place), the overall feeling gets undermined by many factors, another one being the script/dialog. It's a shame really, especially considering all the places this could've gone (no pun intended)

Set in a storage facility with a creepy, off-limits basement section, this is by no means a horror classic, but it's watchable. I really don't get why IMDB allows some of the ratings - this is clearly not a 10/10 film to any rational person, so the 10 scores are, one would suspect, from people who worked on the film, and their mums. The 1/10 scores, as always, seem to come from people who seem unable to give any other score if there's anything they don't like about a film. Both should be ignored. There are some decent ideas here, and a reasonable amount of tension. Nobody's getting Oscar-nominated for this, but the acting isn't terrible, nor is the direction. It may not be objectively very good on any level, but neither is it terrible on any level. It's a middling time-filler that deserves a middling score.
Not a terrible movie, but certainly not great. I thought the idea was very promising for a horror movie. Storage units are creepy. I'm not sure what happened to Mischa Barton, but somewhere along the line she has completely forgotten how to act. She was just horrible in this. She was constantly over acting and obvious about it.
The movie itself was fairly decent, not a lot of special effects to ruin it, and a pretty decent twist to the story that I didn't see coming.
Not a bad movie to watch if you are a fan of horror, but don't expect too much.

Laughable dialogue. Poor performances. The kind of idiotic decisions only found in lousy horror movies. This idea had potential, but it's totally lost in production. The one plus: the creature looks good and is appropriately scary.
