First Look at Martin Scorsese in ‘In the Hand of Dante’ Is a Good Time to Celebrate His Distinctive Acting Roles
Image
Martin Scorsese recently produced the Fox Nation series “The Saints,” but he himself looks more like a Biblical figure in a first look at his character from Julian Schnabel’s “In the Hand of Dante.” Scorsese is bearded and bewhiskered in this adaptation of Nick Tosches’ 2002 book. And his character is a nameless man who otherwise goes by Isaiah. He’ll be playing an inspirational figure to Dante Alighieri, the 14th century Italian scribe best known for his epic poem “The Divine Comedy,” and it seems sure to be another of his distinctive on-camera appearances.

Like the book, Schnabel’s film will take place both in Italy in the early 1300s, when Dante is assembling his magnum opus, and also in 2001, when a handwritten manuscript supposedly from Dante himself is discovered in the Vatican library and goes through an elaborate process of authentication — with a mob boss ordering a fictionalized...

Colombia’s Bogotá Audiovisual Market (Bam) Hits Record Attendance, Prizes ‘Tokyo Forever,’ ‘Pyme, Why Do I Deserve This?’
Image
Colombia’s ever-expanding Bogota Audiovisual Market (Bam) wrapped July 18, citing record attendance that has climbed steadily year after year. Led by Carlos Eduardo Moreno, Bam reported 2,275 accredited participants and among its international guests, some 300 visited the annual event, doubling last year’s tally of 150. Business meetings arranged by Bam leapt from an estimated 600 last year to more than 800 in this edition.

Organized by promotional entity Proimágenes Colombia and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, Bam aims to further expand next year to include more documentaries and serve as a showcase for some Latin American films that have been selected or endorsed by their respective governments, said Proimágenes’ indefatigable director, Claudia Triana.

“We have a genuine interest in continuing several of the initiatives we established this year. That is, we want to maintain spaces where the audiovisual industries can foster greater dialogue… between series, feature films, VR, animation, music and games – allowing...

‘Passenger’ Explores the Clash of Morality and Survival in a Bogotá Thriller Uniting Midi, Camarada and Rodando (Exclusive)
Image
“Passenger,” the first swing at a feature film of on the rise Colombia writer-director Andrés Gómez Tovar, is being pitched at this week’s Bogotá Audiovisual Market (Bam).

It underscores major trends working through Colombia’s film industry, one of the most buoyant in Latin America.

“Passenger” is still in development – though advanced – but has already secured three production parters: Lead Midi Producciones, a Bogotá-based product and services company headed by Andrea Corzo; Camarada, Gómez Tovar’s own label, and Venezuela’s Rodando Films – as Latin America production house look to co-production, domestic and international, to pump up modest budgets to competitive levels.

Gómez Tovar is part of a fast swelling new generation wave in Colombia, powered by stable public-sector support – almost an oxymoron for Latin America – and the money flushing into the sector thanks to platform finance, and service sector income, enjoyed by Midi Producciones.

A new generation plays in different sandpits.

Every Serial Killer Who’s Confirmed to Appear in ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ After First Trailer
Image
Just when we thought Dexter was finally over, it turns out the Dark Passenger isn’t done yet. After years of following his strict code, Dexter broke his own rules—and paid the price. In Dexter: New Blood, we saw him cross a line he had never crossed before, and his own son ended it by pulling the trigger. That felt like the final chapter. But now, against all odds, the story continues.

The second sequel, Dexter: Resurrection, brings Michael C. Hall back once again, and if the first trailer is anything to go by, this new season won’t just focus on Dexter’s return—it’ll also revisit some of the darkest killers the series has ever introduced. Some are back as haunting memories, while others may play a bigger role in what’s to come.

From old enemies to past victims, this next chapter is packed with...

Special features and specs have been revealed for the Sinners 4K Blu-ray release
Image
Ryan Coogler’s hit film Sinners has been making waves in IMAX theaters and it’s been announced that the horror flick will be coming to digital next week. Additionally, the big vampire blues party will be coming to your home with a 4K physical media release courtesy of Warner Bros. As for technical specs, you can expect a stellar presentation that offers native 4K 2160p resolution and Dolby Vision, HDR10 on the visual front, and Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 on the audio side.

One further compelling element to this 4K Blu-ray release of Sinners is that it will have the shifting aspect ratio – which went from 2.76:1 to 1.43:1 in some scenes during the IMAX release – something cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw teased on social media a few weeks ago, thus presenting the film in a way that will duplicate the theatrical experience as best as possible for your home.

Ryan Coogler's Sinners Set To Hit $100 Million At Domestic Box Office This Weekend
Image
Black Panther director Ryan Coogler's Sinners has been exceeding expectations at the box office ever since it knocked A Minecraft Movie from the top spot when it debuted in theaters last weekend, and is now on track to becoming a bona fide box office juggernaut.

The movie added another $23 million since Monday for a domestic total of $71.5 million through Wednesday, and is now approaching $87 million. It should pass the $100 million milestone by Monday.

The period vampire drama, which stars Michael B. Jordan as identical twin brothers, recently made history with the highest domestic opening weekend for an original film of the decade, surpassing Jordan Peele’s Nope.

It's a great result for an R-rated movie with a reported production budget of $90 million, and analysts believe Sinners will continue to dominate the box office over the next couple of weeks at least - though it will face competition from video...

Deftones Joined Onstage by Paramore’s Hayley Williams for “Minerva” in Nashville: Watch
Image
Deftones‘ set at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday (March 26th) had a little added star power, with Paramore’s Hayley Williams taking the stage to perform guest vocals on the encore opener “Minerva.”

Williams looked to be in attendance as a fan, posting footage on Instagram from the back of the venue with the other concertgoers. But when it was time for the encore, the Paramore singer headed to the stage to help out with the song from Deftones’ 2003 self-titled album.

The Paramore singer mostly lends backing vocals on the chorus drops, though she’s obviously stoked to be up there, bopping around the stage and dancing to the otherwise tempered, slow-tempo cut (as seen in fan footage below).

It marks the second time Williams has joined Deftones onstage, as she previously sang alongside Chino Moreno and company in 2010 at the Rock-a-Field Festival in Luxembourg.

In her advisory role with Skydance, Holland will provide her expertise on the streaming business. Under the deal that Skydance and its financial partner, RedBird Capital,...

The offering is priced at $14.99 a month, reflecting a 25% savings for both apps. It debuts amid a broader bundling push among streamers to attract subscribers and reduce churn, and as Lionsgate Studios and Starz are set to split apart into two separate companies by year end.

Kaos Soundtrack Guide: Every Song & When They Play
Image
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Netflix's Kaos.

The soundtrack of Kaos mixes together contemporary genres with classical music, mirroring the dark comedic, contemporary take on Ancient Greek myths. Kaos is a hilarious, raunchy story that follows three humans who learn theyre destined to fulfill a prophecy that will bring down the Greek gods. The unhinged story thrives partly because it incorporates all the darkest and most twisted parts of Greek mythology but approaches them with a sense of humor. The narrator, Prometheus, helps set the sardonic tone for the series. However, another aspect of the show that contributes to its success is the soundtrack.

The episodes of the Netflix comedy show are packed with songs that shape the tone for the audience. The music that plays with each character in Kaos also reflects their personality. Scenes with Dionysus include eclectic music popular in the LGBTQ+ community. Zeus leans...
