Splatalot Is ... Cruel

Splatalot is a 2011-2013 Medieval Gameshow. Where 12 Contestants Must Complete 3 Rounds of Brutal Courses To Win The Crown. Along The Way, They'll face the Defenders who are tasked with stopping the attackers every step of the way. The show is hosted by Matt Chin & Jason Agnew.

Pros:

Nice Memorable Costumes for the Defenders
Memorable and Well Designed Set
Good Improv From Defenders

Cons:

The Host (Especially Chin) Are Basically Bullies
Chin is Mean-Spirited and Egotistical which makes it Hard to laugh at his Jokes when He Bullies Kids 24/7.

The course is repetitive and boring.

The defenders never win which gets pretty predictable
Jokes are Not Funny and Mean-Spirited

Just Watch Wipeout and/or American Gladiators.

The worst of the worst.

It's Wipeout with a medieval theme. And "American Gladiator"-style characters. It's tired. It's mean-spirited. It's poorly "acted" by both the hosts and the villains. All of this is surprising since this is Canadian - where people are nice and friendly and docile due to their climate and good breeding. It just seems to clash with every tone. No wonder it doesn't work.

In the years following its cancellation, what remained of the show's set became popular with trespassers, especially ones who shot videos there (including at least one known former "Attacker"). The online miniseries Smashalot, produced by Marblemedia, covered its ultimate demolition over the winter of 2018-19, and featured host Jason Agnew with Rj Skinner as "Defender" Gildar. As of then, the site is now a vacant field.
