The Fall

A maple leaf's fall story told in an absolutely humorous and entertaining way-all in under three minutes. That's exactly what The Fall delivers. And this animated comedy short delivers it well. I was amused and laughing the whole way through.

There are so many clever artistic elements we've seen in other films, but they're used to great effect here. For example, the play on perspective-showing the proportional and subjective experience of falling-cuts between close-up shots of the leaf and wide shots from a distance, with the audio volume cleverly adjusted to match those perspectives.

And just when you think the story is over, it takes an unexpected turn. What happens after the leaf hits the ground is where the animated horror truly begins-continuing all the way through the end credits. Nicely done!
