David Firth is one of the best cartoonists of all time! I will admit that I personally don't think this is his best work. I still love it! This series tells the story of Salad Fingers, a really weird guy living in an empty wasteland. There is implied to be a war of some kind. Maybe what we're seeing is the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse.
There's never an exact explanation as to exactly what is going on. Maybe the name implies that the character himself is made of lettuce? I mean, he's certainly green! It can get dark and surreal, but you should be used to it given the nature of Firth's cartoons. The animation and creativity often gets better every episode. With few characters, it still knows how to set up a good story. ***1/2

Rather self explanatory here, this stuck with me. This wasteland type setting feels like an inside look into my own head. Always full, but always empty. The encounters Mr. Fingers here has feel so similar to my own interactions, in a few ways. I literally can't talk to people. I feel like I can't understand them, and I like to make up their responses in my own head. To compensate
The lack of plot is fun. Some later episodes do follow a plot, sure, but the early ones really don't. It's just Mr. Fingers enjoying life. And I really love that.
I don't have a favorite episode, but I always love coming back and watching it all.

I really just dont know what to rate this. i can't tell if its good... or bad... or neither... im just so confused.
David Firth is a talented animator and voice actor. If you are into some bizarre creepy animation, Salad Fingers is for you.
The reviewer at the bottom of this list had it right. Salad Fingers is great mood. But what does it actually show? The world it portrays is a world of ONLY the Shadow; The Shadow and isolation - nothing more. But this is a purge: it does not show the truth of the world: only Miyazaki does that. Spirited Away does it best.
A world of only shadow appeals only to those who blind themselves to light.
*** I still give this 7 for the mood and for nostalgic reasons. I like it when the red water comes out.
**** I refer to the Shadow as Jung described it; that hidden, darker aspect of the unconscious.
