The new Pokemon games continue to get better

10 out of 10 - A Bold New Chapter in the Pokémon Universe

Pokémon Scarlet bursts onto the scene with a fresh, expansive take on the Pokémon formula that shakes things up in all the best ways. It's a major leap forward, blending open-world exploration with the classic Pokémon adventure, creating an experience that feels both nostalgic and revolutionary.

                        Open World Freedom

Scarlet drops you into a sprawling, fully open world where you're free to explore at your own pace. No rigid paths, no linear storytelling - you chart your own journey across diverse landscapes from lush forests and sprawling cities to ancient ruins and wild plains. The sense of discovery is bigger and more immersive than ever before.

                        New Region and Story

Set in the vibrant Paldea region, inspired by the Iberian Peninsula, Scarlet's story introduces you to a fresh cast of characters and a storyline that's both engaging and full of surprises. The game embraces a more dynamic narrative style, giving you the freedom to tackle challenges in any order and make choices that feel meaningful.

Gameplay Innovations Terastal Phenomenon: A brand-new battle mechanic that lets Pokémon "crystallize" and change types mid-fight, opening up fresh strategic possibilities and stunning visuals.

Seamless Pokémon Encounters: Pokémon roam freely and visibly in the wild, adding to the immersion and excitement of exploration.

Co-op Play: For the first time, you can explore and battle alongside up to three friends in seamless multiplayer sessions, making the adventure a shared experience.

                        Cast and Pokémon

Scarlet introduces a whole lineup of new Pokémon, each bursting with unique designs and abilities. From the loyal starter Pokémon to the mysterious legendaries, the roster is diverse and memorable.

Your journey also brings you face-to-face with a colorful cast - from rivals and professors to gym leaders who feel more like real people, each with their own motivations and personalities that enrich the story.

                        Why It's 10 out of 10

Pokémon Scarlet delivers an epic adventure with an unprecedented level of freedom and innovation. It respects the series' roots while boldly reinventing what a Pokémon game can be. The mix of open-world exploration, new mechanics, and deep storytelling sets a new standard.

The graphics and world design are beautiful, the soundtrack perfectly captures the vibe of Paldea, and the gameplay hooks you from the very first step.

                        Needed more development time

                        Performance: 2/10 Story: 9.5/10 Gameplay: 9/10 Characters: 9.5/10 New pokemon: 7/10 Graphic: 4.5/10 Themes (music): 10/10 Total: 7.35/10

This game is visually bad, no doubt with that. It needed more care with the environment, the performance, the cutscenes, the lag, it's clear that it's incomplete.

But, and this is important to point out, the story and gameplay is very good this time.

I liked this game much more than Pokemon Sword and Shield, this one has a soul.

First of all, traveling with the legendary Pokemon from start is the best idea ever. The way the story is introduced is very sweet and the more you play, the more you get involved.

The fact that you can explore freely the entire map from start (after the pretty long tutorial) is very cool, adding a sense of real adventure to the game.

I played without ever using the teracrystalization (the new mechanic), this led to a slight increase of the difficulty of the game that I appreciated a lot during my gameplay.

The new pokemon are mostly bad, but there are a few that I liked a lot, so overall it's fine.

As said before, the performance of the game is the biggest letdown. I think that with 1 more year of development this could have been the best Pokemon game ever.

I give it an 8, because after being disappointed with Sword and Shield, I enjoyed a good old but new Pokemon game.
