Voodoo with a mix of humor.

This is a great time. A classic horror tale with a bit of a twist. When a young girl comes up missing her boyfriend turns to voodoo to find her. Unfortunately, he brings her back from the dead with a thirst for vengeance! This movie had a lot of heart and humor. Lead actress Avaryana Rose as Kendall Kane brings a dynamic performance, showing off her acting and physical skills during the many action scenes. Tristan Green was menacing as Bobby Montrose and Michael McKeever really did an awesome job as Lucien Deveux the heartbroken boyfriend. I was rooting for Kendall to get her revenge. Definitely worth a watch!

    Fresh & Unique Voodoo Story!

I'm a fellow filmmaker, so if you're looking for nitpicking? This is not the review for you.

It takes a tremendous amount of work to take a great idea, write a solid screenplay and translate it well in front of the lens. Bitter Souls does all of this.

The story of Bitter Souls is a well written and thought out one. There weren't any plot gaps. It was all tied together pretty well. It's a unique horror film in that it takes the mysterious practice of Voodoo and twists it in all the right ways.

The cinematic look of the film is great. It's smooth and crisp, very pleasing for the viewer. There were well timed visual effects, not overdone, and they were placed precisely where they needed to be.

    The opening sequence was great!

We loved Michael Hargrove as Immanuel. His costume and makeup were well done!

    The Voodoo shop was cool!

Avaryana Rose as Kendall Kane really worked well. Avaryana has this look...I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's the right mix of innocence, mystery and cunning. A budding star.

As we got deeper into the film, and then saw the ending...Michael McKeever's performance as Lucien Deveux felt really good. Kudos Michael!

Destiny Leilani Brown as Mahlet can't be overlooked. We've seen a lot of Voodoo shows and movies with this particular character, and Destiny held her own. Cheers!

Aesthetically there was a lot to like! Congrats to the writers, producers, cinematographers, editors and director.

We're looking forward to seeing what you come up with next.

A fun voodoo indie horror movie

An indie horror movie about voodoo. Not too many movies that fit into that specific category. Hopefully this movie inspires more in this sub genre. The story is wild, goofy and entertaining. The performances of the voodoo priest and Kendall particularly shine. I was thoroughly impressed by the opening scene; the camera work, the music, the lighting, and the delivery of lines - creepy and on point. Avaryana Rose may very well be an up and coming star in horror.

This is a fun movie. I look forward to more from this team. I encourage fellow fans or horror or independent movies to check out this movie.

Fresh take on small town Horror

The cast and crew brought a fresh feel to small town Horror. It wasn't over done, it wasn't forced and stuck to the story through and through. The actors did a great job taking their roles to the next level.

The areas in Which they chose to to shoot this movie have great history and it was awesome to see familiar location in each scene.

It was slow to see a familiar face or two get there moments on screen.

The crew and producers were very welcoming and friendly, it was a pleasure to meet them all and have some of my products showcased in the movie.

    Definitely worth the purchase.

10 out of 10 highly recommend.

A likable if somewhat problematic genre effort

After an unfortunate accident, a man's visit with a spirit healer for help in finding out what happened to his girlfriend brings him into contact with a voodoo specialist who can reanimate her body, sending her out on a mission to exact revenge on those who killed her and put her body at rest.

This was a pretty fun and solid genre feature. One of the better elements with this one comes from a strong series of supernatural influences that take a different spin on the typical tale of a body reanimated from the dead to go on a rampage against those who killed her. The influx of black magic in both the resurrection of how she comes back to life and setting out on a rampage through the streets to take out those who chased her down and killed her, which is more impressive with how it changes things up. The series of twists and revelations that come about in the second half features different connections that are introduced that change up how the whole thing takes place, enabling the action to be immensely enjoyable. With the use of her powers, to helped change the type of spectacle presented. Attacking nameless residents that show up to question what's going on, ripping apart the various interlopers that are brought into the confrontation due to the mystical being trying to get what he wants, and several other intriguing elements that have a lot to like. As these all bring about some intriguing action and a few solid gore gags during these scenes, it all comes together rather nicely with a lot to like. There are some issues to be had with this one holding it down. The biggest drawback to the film is the somewhat confusing nature of the offending group of bullies who are responsible for the situation. Initially appearing as disrespectful, lawless punks who engage in taunting and tormenting underage high school girls for the thrill of it all, they become so quickly adapt to murder and killing, so that it feels unbelievable that they would get as comfortable with it as quickly as they do. As it's painted quite heavily that there's been an accident on the initial death and how they reacted to it that shocked the group, this turn into the dark side is somewhat unnatural which makes for all the more confusion when they disappear from the film to serve the battle between the magic-fueled spirits at the center of the film. This makes the sense of spirituality and dark magic another issue, where it's somewhat confusing how everything works as things just happen for no reason, which dramatically reduces the effectiveness of the scenes in general. These all make for a somewhat problematic time here.
