A movie I thought I might enjoy, but one that I loved instead. From the very beginning, you can tell this is not what you thought it was going to be. Beautiful direction and acting.
The film is a meaningful tribute to the artist who is struggling with authenticity, when success seems to dictate giong in another direction. The take on social media success is both funny and only too believable. Great visuals, music and filmwork that keeps you interested while surprising you with what comes next.
Let's see more and hear more from these artists: Alex Haughey; Taylor Joree Scorse; Spencer Vaughn Kelly; Chandler Young. Ava Westcott is a special hoot.

This movie was actually pretty good. The story is more about the main character's development and arc instead of just focusing on an unrealistic romance. You can tell the budget is similar to the Hallmark movies, but somebody actually read the script before funding it. I won't get into spoilers but there are some twists and turns in the story that keep things interesting, but not in a bad way. It still delivered the standard romcom fare that my wife likes, but it repackaged it with some new elements that made it a solid watch for me. If you don't love romcoms but want to get some brownie points with your wife, recommend this movie to watch on your next date night.
Great film that takes an insightful look into social media culture and what happens when you become beholden to the opinions of others. Taylor Scorse as Tori, does an incredible job of taking us through the journey of identifying with her social media persona to finding herself and discovering her true passions outside of the external voices in her life.
This movie is a fun journey where in depth discoveries of self are punctuated with lighthearted moments. You really begin to identify with the main character and root for her as she goes on her heroes journey to discover who she really is. I would highly recommend this film!

A new angle into the social media narrative and celebrity culture. Digs deeper than you'd expect from the premise. The lead girl holds the whole thing together. Her performance is hilarious, heartfelt, and human. She showed so many different sides of her character, who takes a real turn toward the end of the film.
I really enjoyed the music throughout. Excited to hear more from these creators.
Lots of experimental camera work and coloring which is intentional but at times distracting from the performances. Ultimately cathartic. Watch the credits for Becca's Bop.
Keeping my eyes peeled for Taylor Scorse 👀

I got to see a screening of this at a film festival and absolutely loved it. It's funny, heart warming, and poignant. It's an amazing performance from Taylor Scorse. She gave so much humanity to influencers, who I more often that not find myself rolling my eyes at their antics. Speaking of which, Ava Westcott couldn't have been more perfectly cast. The writing in this movie was fantastic - and I was truly blown away to find that it wasn't female written - kudos to Alex Haughey for getting it right!
I feel that comedies are the most difficult to ground, and Under the Influencer did a great job of doing it. You won't be disappointed!!
