    Funny and thought-provoking

Excellent Australian short that I saw at the Provincetown Film Festival. An adorable little kid of about 7 or 8 (Keilan Grace) brings home a picture he drew with a phase indicating he likes another boy's "dik". His father (Patrick Brammall) freaks out while his mother (Alexa Ashton) calmly says it's just a phase he's going through that every boy goes through. Then they start discussing THEIR past same sex relationships and things quickly escalate out of control.

It may sound depressing and hard-hitting but it really wasn't! My audience was in hysterics over the dialogue. The script was sharp, on target and very VERY funny. The two actors were superb--they threw in just the right amount of anger and trying to understand. It leads up to a twist at the ending that was perfect. A wonderful short for adults--gay AND str8! There's no nudity in this at all but some of the language is VERY graphic about sexual acts so I think this would be off limits for kids. It wouldn't shock them at all--they just wouldn't understand it!

    I could not stop laughing!

This short film is about a father discovering his six year old son who writes about 'dik'.

In just the space of ten minutes (and that includes the credits), "dik" manages to take the viewers through a plethora of intense dramas. From a boy proclaiming to like 'dik', to the parents' revelation of experimentation, then more hell breaks loose and the situation becomes irretrievably damaged. "dik" is fast paced, quick witted, and very entertaining. I just could not stop laughing as one can of worms is opened after another. There are so many surprises and jokes, that every second of it is entertaining. And the ending is so good, but I will not spoil it here. It really amazes me to see that so much drama can be packed into ten minutes. Watch it if you have the chance.
