Benedict Cumberbatch is getting some Blood on his hands.
The actor, who is coming off the Sundance premiere of grief drama The Thing with Feathers, is joining Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Blood on Snow, an indie adaptation of the Jo Nesbo crime thriller being directed by Cary Fukunaga.
Also lighting up the call sheet are Eva Green, Emma Laird and Ben Mendelsohn.
Cumberbatch is replacing Tom Hardy, who was previously on board to act and produce but stepped away due to scheduling issues. The feature is heading to a start of production at the end of month, shooting in Latvia.
Taylor-Johnson is starring a hit man/fixer named Olav who is hired by his mob boss to kill the man’s cheating wife. After Olav convinces himself he’s fallen in love with the wife and doesn’t kill her, it sets off a chain of events with tragic consequences that threaten a bloody mob war.

French actress Juliette Binoche has been named President of the Jury for the 2025 edition of the Cannes Film Festival in May.
The honor, which was announced on Tuesday morning Paris time, will fall exactly 40 years after the Oscar-winning The English Patient star first touched down at the festival with André Téchiné’s Palme d’Or contender Rendez-vous in 1985.
Binoche follows in the footsteps of U.S. director Greta Gerwig whose jury feted Sean Baker’s Anora with the Palme d’Or last year.
“I’m looking forward to sharing these life experiences with the members of the Jury and the public. In 1985, I walked up the steps for the first time with the enthusiasm and uncertainty of a young actress; I never imagined I’d return 40 years later in the honorary role of President of the Jury. I appreciate the privilege, the responsibility and the absolute need for humility,” said Binoche.

Touting her lifelong “love affair with the camera,” the Cannes Film Festival announced Monday that Oscar-winning actress Juliette Binoche has been named president of the 2025 main competition jury. The 78th edition of the festival will run from May 13th to 24th.
Binoche, 60, is the winner of best actress prizes from all three of the major international film festivals. She first walked on the Cannes red carpet with her early role in André Téchiné’s “Rendez-vous,” which caused a stir at Cannes 40 years ago.
The Paris-born actress quickly made her name as an international star, appearing in acclaimed French and English-language dramas such as “The Unbearable Lightness of Being,” “Three Colours: Blue,” “Damage” and “The English Patient,” for which she won an Oscar and a BAFTA in 1997.

The nominations have been revealed for the 2025 GLAAD Media Awards, and one critically acclaimed LGBTQ+ film is notably absent from the pack of nominees.
The annual awards ceremony will return for a 36th year in 2025. According to GLAAD, it’s goal is to “recognize and honor fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of the LGBTQ community in an ever-expanding and media landscape.”
On Wednesday (January 22), the organization revealed the crop of nominees that would be honored at the ceremony. While projects such as Wicked and Queer were notably featured, Netflix’s Emilia Perez was left off the list.
The snub comes after GLAAD declared that the movie, which stars Zoe Saldana, Selena Gomez and trans actress Karla Sofia Gascon, was “not good trans representation” in a November 2024 essay. The story included reviews from transgender film critics and noted that “inauthentic portrayals of trans people are offensive and even dangerous.”

Set in a rural idyll during the summer of 1998, the coming-of-age drama casts rising star Billie Blain (“The Animal Kingdom”) opposite screen stalwart Zabou Breitman (“The New Look”), following an adolescent girl as she forges a new sense of self post-puberty.
“In the family’s small manor, her parents and older brother notice that her body has changed,” reads the description. “Fortunately, Cassandre is passionate about horses, and she joins a small riding center for the holidays, where she’s embraced as an odd but endearing character. Here's a thought experiment to brighten up your Tuesday: is Maisie Williams, the actress noted for playing the revenge-happy murder machine Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, a time traveler? Is Arya Stark returning to Game Of Thrones? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Arya Stark is a character etched deep into the memory of every Game of Thrones fan as a girl who turned out to be the biggest underdog of the show as she transformed from being the youngest member of the Stark family to a ruthless assassin who took on the most significant enemy all by herself and came up trumps.
The character was brought to life by talented actor Maisie Williams, who has since ventured into many shows, such as The New Look and Pistol. Game of Thrones universe has since moved on to making shows like ’House of The Dragon’, which has already generated a buzz with its first two seasons, and are now looking forward to more shows and even a film.

Broadway’s pop-injected Romeo and Juliet revival opened at New York’s Circle in the Square Theatre earlier this month but took a detour last night to unravel on the stage at The Tonight Show With Stephen Colbert. Rachel Zegler brought her leading role as Juliet to the performance of “Man of the House” with assistance from Jack Antonoff, who wrote and produced music for the production.
With Antonoff on piano and the cast of Romeo + Juliet backing her, Zegler delivered a tender performance of the aching ballad. “Do you have doubts?...

Rachel Zegler and Jack Antonoff have shared a new collaboration, “Man of the House,” from the new Broadway production Romeo + Juliet.
The latest revival of the classic Shakespeare tragedy stars Zegler as Juliet and Kit Connor as Romeo. And while it’s not an out-and-out musical, it does feature a few new songs from Antonoff. “Man of the House” is the first offering from the show and was co-written with singer-songwriter Ryan Beatty.

As a setting for a TV show, fashion is a little like the restaurant industry: a rich, untapped source of detail and conflict, hindered by the logistical complexity of bringing its insular world to the screen. And just as “The Bear” was preceded by a legion of competitive reality shows, plus a misbegotten adaptation of Anthony Bourdain’s “Kitchen Confidential” starring a young Bradley Cooper, the French drama “La Maison” is the latest of many attempts to make couture into compelling drama. “Project Runway” remains an unscripted institution, but recent scripted efforts have ranged from dutifully reverential (“Becoming Karl Lagerfeld”) to confoundingly inept.
Unlike these earlier series, which fictionalized the lives of icons like Yves Saint Laurent and Coco Chanel, “La Maison” gives itself the freedom to take liberties. Perhaps relatedly, it’s by far the strongest of the recent efforts to graft fashion onto entertainment. Created and showrun by...

Maisie Williams became famous as Arya Stark in the popular HBO series, Game of Thrones. Nevertheless, she confronted numerous obstacles to establish her own identity after spending years portraying the highly regarded role.
In a recent interview, Williams revealed she struggled to shake off her persona as the scruffy, tom-boyish Arya. Soon, her fame became a hurdle in her path to landing new roles. Her experience was a classic example of the double-edged sword of early fame. Though that role gave her exposition it also became her biggest hindrance to future success.
Shaking off the Stark persona: A quest for new roles
At the age of twelve years old, when Maisie Williams started acting as Arya Stark in Game of Thrones, she grew up on its sets both literally and metaphorically speaking. However early achievements brought along huge price tags all over again.

John Malkovich was stunned when Harvey Weinstein was finally sentenced to prison. The once-untouchable Hollywood powerhouse, a figure long linked with abuse and unchecked power, seemed almost immune to accountability. Malkovich’s reaction highlights just how improbable Weinstein’s conviction once seemed, even with the overwhelming evidence and the powerful momentum of the #MeToo movement.

Jason Momoa And Dave Bautista Buddy Comedy The Wrecking Crew Still Happening — Claes Bang Joins Cast
It's hard to believe it's been almost three years since we first reported that Dune and See co-stars Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa are set to team up on buddy comedy The Wrecking Crew. But now, at long last, we've finally got an exciting new update on the movie that started with a tweet (see below). Per The Wrap's reporting, the Ángel Manuel Soto (Blue Beetle) helmed film has found its lead villain in the shape of The New Look and Bad Sisters star Claes Bang.
Momoa and Bautista's See Season 2 showrunner Jonathan Tropper, who's recently landed gigs writing both Shawn Levy's new Star Wars movie and Chris Hemsworth Apple sci-fi The Corsair Code, has written the script — completed before last year's WGA strikes — for this one. In a coup of casting, Danish star Claes Bang has been cast as the villain in The Wrecking Crew, a buddy cop pic featuring heavyweights in action -- Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa. He is best known for his starring role in Ruben stlund's 2017 film The Square. Bang will star with the ensemble in the Amazon MGM Studios production.
The project was first teased by Bautista in 2021, in a post that really took off and snowballed into a full movie. In the X (then Twitter) post, Bautista voiced his interest in making a buddy cop film with Momoa. Immediately, this piqued the interest of fans and the industry at large. The first vision had The Fall Guy director David Leitch attached, though he has since been replaced by ngel Manuel Soto, who made his debut with Blue Beetle for Warner Bros. and DC.

Danish star Claes Bang, best known for playing the leading role of Christian in Ruben Östlund’s 2017 film “The Square,” has been cast opposite Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa as the villain in “The Wrecking Crew” for Amazon MGM Studios.
The project began with a tweet from Bautista back in 2021, which quickly snowballed into an actual movie (see tweet below).

Once again, the Emmy Awards nominations don’t include a slew of TV favorites. Among the most notable snubs: Emma Stone for Best Drama Actress and a complete shutout of her Showtime series “The Curse.” Equally surprising was “Shogun” supporting actresses Moeka Hoshi and Fumi Nikaido missing the ballot. On the comedy side, Netflix’s “The Gentlemen” missed for Comedy Series and a forecasted bid for its star Theo James. And although “The Bear” had a solid morning overall, Abby Elliott wasn’t able to ride the wave of fortune in Best Comedy Supporting Actress. Oliver Platt and Matty Matheson were also snubbed on the Supporting Actor side.
Below, we enumerate the top 50 Emmys snubs in our estimation. These were the shows and performers that we thought had a strong chance to number among this year’s nominees. Let us know if there are others missing from this list that...

Variety has reported that Halle Berry is no longer attached to All’s Fair, the Ryan Murphy legal series set to star Glenn Close and Kim Kardashian. The reason is said to be a scheduling conflict, but the exit still seems surprising as it arrives exactly a week after it was first reported that Berry would be joining the series. The role will be recast, so we should hear about Berry’s replacement in the near future.

Bartees Strange pens a literal “interstate love song” on the singer-songwriter’s new single “Lie 95.”
“This song is about searching for love all across the Northeast corridor (I-95) — my universe,” Strange said of the track in a statement. “I’m thinking of Love in a broad way: partners, friends, and community. This one’s for the highway…and everything I meet through it.”
Strange paired the single — his original new song of 2024 following “Big Glow” off the I Saw the TV Glow soundtrack — with a Vincent Martell & Jordan Phelps-directed...

A Hulu drama series featuring Kim Kardashian has lined up some A-list talent to star opposite the reality TV mogul.
Halle Berry and Glenn Close have joined the cast of All’s Fair, a legal drama from megaproducer Ryan Murphy and 20th Television. The pair will also be executive producers alongside Murphy and Kardashian.
Per usual with Murphy’s shows, details about the roles Berry and Close will play are being kept quiet for now. All’s Fair is described as a glossy and sexy procedural in which Kardashian — who worked with Murphy on the most recent season of American Horror Story — plays a top divorce attorney at an all-woman L.A. law firm.
Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz (Feud: Capote vs. The Swans) and Joe Baken (ABC’s upcoming, Murphy-produced Dr. Odyssey) created the series. They executive produce with stars Kardashian, Close and Berry; writers Jamie Pachino, Laura Greene and Richard Levine; and Kris Jenner,...

The Savannah College of Art and Design is again bringing a generous helping of Southern hospitality to France’s Luberon Valley for the Scad Lacoste Film Festival, which runs June 27 to 29. Now in its third year, the fest was conceived as a top-up highlight for college students doing their semester abroad at Scad’s sumptuous campus in Lacoste, an inexcusably picturesque medieval village in the heart of Provence.
“[Scad founder and president] Paula Wallace always wants to make sure our students have access to the best of everything,” says Christina Routhier, executive director of Scad Theaters and Festivals. “The focus [at Scad Lacoste] is on film majors: acting, directing, production, costume design. So it was a perfect fit to bring in a film festival.”
The event is a complement to the school’s long-running main fest in Savannah, Georgia, which runs Oct. 26 to Nov. 2. Attracting talent to Lacoste, with its Instagram-ready cobblestone streets and lavender fields, hasn’t been a problem.

When Donald Glover first approached showrunner Francesca Sloane about adapting “Mr. & Mrs. Smtih” for Amazon Prime, she “started laughing,” and thought it was a “weird Donald Glover joke that he randomly spit out.” She was confused as to why he would pick the 2005 action-comedy of all movies, but as the conversation evolved, the project began taking shape in her mind.
“We discussed why people get married, what is it like to fight for somebody, how would it be to take this big blockbuster hit and use our sensibilities of quiet moments and filter that throughout the series,” Sloane explained. “And also, what is it like to have a woman run and write this show in such a masculine-charged genre? So, it started to sound like something that made sense to us.”
As part of Variety’s A Night in The Writers’ Room, Sloane was joined by showrunner and creator of “Average Joe” Robb Cullen,...

As TV academy voters fill out their 2024 Emmy nominations ballots, they will have to consider 107 shows for Best Drama Series. This is down by 56 contenders compared to last year. As was the case in 2023, members may not allow their selections to exceed the number of eventual nominations for a given award, which, in this case, will be eight.
2023 Best Drama Series winner “Succession” and six of the seven also-rans are out of the current race because they did not air new episodes during the June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024 qualifying period. This leaves “The Crown” as the only 2023 nominee eligible for an immediate return, which could lead to its second victory here following its first in 2021.
Remember, only eight of the shows below will earn bids for Best Drama Series when the Emmy nominations are announced on July 17. Which do you think will make the cut?
