El paseo

El paseo is Not really a movie. This "movie" looks and fells like a cheap tv soap opera trying to be funny. Weak story, amateur acting , awfull directing.

I watched this movie for two reasons: As a resource for my Spanish course and because Carolina Gomez was in the movie.

Every character has a pre- stablished personality and there's no development at all, not even a progress. They stay static from the beginning and in time, they become annoying.

I must say that this film makes you feel like a prophet: Every time you think something is gonna happen it will happen. This movie is so full of clichés that makes you feel bored and sometimes, irritated.

Avoid it please. I don't think you will like it, even if you are Columbian.

This movie is not "Ghandi", "The Godfather", etc. It's a typical mindless movie with silly people who are trying to take a trip to Cartagena, Colombia. It's made to make you laugh, not ponder. There are plenty of stereotypical Colombian laughs such as the boss who does nothing but surf porn all day, a father who thinks he knows it all, an annoying mother-in-law,and villains along the highway. Be warned that you won't see any character development, complicated plots, and that you will probably predict parts of the movie. It's a lot like "Up In Smoke" in those ways. My rating is based on this movie being of a certain type of genre, not it's absolute quality rating. It's a nice peek into Colombian humor which some Spanish teachers might not get. This movie was very popular in Colombia and they made a sequel, however they used a different cast in the second movie and it didn't work as well.
