The characters in Dunder Mifflin always managed to make us laugh. During its nine-season run, The Office‘s worst episode is rated at 6.4 on IMDb, which speaks a lot to the quality of the series. Unfortunately, that sad title goes to the 19th episode of Season 8, titled Get the Girl. It was an Andy-focused episode and Ed Helms’ character wasn’t exactly fan-favorite like Michael Scott.

In particular, the episode focused on Andy’s relationship with Erin, which didn’t sit well with many fans of the series. The Andy-Erin romance was dragged along for too long, from Season 5 to Season 9, only for Erin to end up with someone else leaving Ed Helms’ character a wreck at the end.

Exclusive: Oscar nominee Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin) has joined The Boat, an Oscar-qualified live-action short from writer-director Luke Morgan, as executive producer.
Based on a true story, the film follows a father who, in discovering that his daughter Dhukia is showing the early symptoms of leprosy, must make a devastating choice.
Dhukia’s story was the inspiration behind the Global Leprosy Eradication Programme, an initiative on the part of The Mission To End Leprosy, which is a global network of organizations looking to help end the oldest known and still existing communicable disease in human history. The short looks to the Oscars after winning qualifying awards at the Foyle Film Festival and Cork Film Festival.
Jake and Luke Morgan produced via their Ireland-based Morgan Brothers. Currently, the film can be viewed on online platform Omeleto.

One can understand how a long-running series could become stale. There is a lot of inertia in one direction that can be challenging to reverse as gameplay conventions, lore bloats, and deviation from what fans expect to become more ingrained and riskier. Something like Fallout London can excel in that situation.

The mod team behind this massive (and totally free) Fallout 4 conversion, Folon, approached the project with new ideas and perspectives without worrying about offending Fallout fans. But this mod’s enormous success didn’t happen overnight.

Businesses must have a clear idea of what they are getting into and be certain they want to do it before they can commit to something as big as Fallout London.

For those who enjoyed Callum Turner in The Boys in the Boat, his show Masters of the Air on Apple TV+ is a must-watch. Turner's range shines in historical pieces like these, showcasing bravery and perseverance during World War II. Fans of Turner can look forward to seeing him in future projects like Atropia, Eternity, and the TV adaptation of Neuromancer.
Callum Turner's most recent movie, The Boys in the Boat, is now streaming on Prime Video, and those who enjoyed the biographical drama should check out Turner's other historical 2024 release. Though Turner got his start in the 2010s, the British actor has recently seen quite a spike in his career, with big franchises like Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and notable releases like Emma. Among Turner's most exciting roles is his part as Joe Rantz in George Clooney's The Boys in the Boat.

Crime dramas can sit on a pretty broad spectrum: some are campy, cosy and even comfortingly formulaic, whereas others make you need to sleep with the light on. The one guarantee is that in the UK at least, there’s such an appetite for detectives and crime stories that TV will never run out of new cases to solve.
We’ve already had some top examples in 2023, from the Happy Valley and Endeavour finales to the excellent Belfast-based Blue Lights, but there are plenty more fresh crime dramas on the way, from police procedurals to true crime and murder mysteries. See what’s coming up below.
After The Flood
Very much what it says on the tin, After The Flood begins… after a flood, which devastates a town, but when the waters clear they leave behind an unidentified dead man in the lift of an underground car park. PC Joanna Marshall is on the case,...

Coming Next from Spain, a showcase of five series, unspooled at Series Mania on March 21 just after a Spanish series, “Wrong Side of the Tracks” from Mediaset España and Alea Media, had scored 149.6 million watching hours in three weeks on Netflix for Seasons 1 and 2.
That platform connection and power of Spanish series threaded most of the series and much of the commentary at Tuesday’s Next from Spain, supported by Audiiovisual from Spain.
At least in terms of titles now ready to hit the market, there’s little sign as yet of platform pullback in Spain. Rather, it remains a ground zero in the streamer wars.
2023 will see the release of 70 new Spanish scripted series and 27 returning seasons of titles such as “Elite” “Rapa” “30 Coins” and “Veneno,” presenter Irene Jiménez, at Audiovisual 451, told a Next From Spain audience.

"We have to consider that they're all lying to us." Gravitas Ventures has debuted an official trailer for an indie thriller titled Disappearance, the feature debut of filmmaker Matt Shapira. This is another one of these seductive sailboat mysteries where something goes wrong and someone dies (or disappears) from a boat and they have to figure out what really happened. Who really killed him? After the author George Boulangé disappears from his sailboat one night, Detective Kenny Park must try to figure out what happened by interviewing his wife, girlfriend, and the captain. Starring Matt Marsden, Hutch Dano, Cortney Palm, Jemma Dallender, Reggie Lee, Brian Thompson, & Guy Wilson. This looks bland and forgettable, and very cheesy (that awful music in the trailer my goodness). This one you can skip. This just premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival this year and is on the hunt for distributors at the Cannes Market, which is where this trailer comes from. Rivalries, dark secrets, and sexual tension emerge when three best friends find themselves stranded on a yacht in the middle of the ocean due to suspicious circumstances. Sounds a bit like Holiday or The Boat, but maybe not entirely. Starring Christopher Gray, Munro Chambers, and Emily Tyra. The best part about this trailer is the ridiculous fake quotes they use throughout, mocking all the ridiculous quotes that usually appear in most trailers anyway. Ha. Good stuff. The Mediapro offices in Madrid’s Fuencarral district have for years boasted the logo of Globomedia, Spain’s premier scripted series production house.
But in the second half of April, a new logo, the Mediapro Studio, will replace the old. The change marks a near-total reinvention of the company’s scripted series production paradigm, says Mediapro partner Taxto Benet.
For years, Globomedia produced content for Spain’s three nationwide broadcast networks. Now its production partners span the globe, from many of the most important U.S. companies such as HBO and Netflix, to Mexico’s Televisa, Sweden’s Dramacorp, Italy’s Palomar, Finland’s Yle, Argentina’s two biggest broadcasters Telefe and Artear, plus Spain’s Mediaset España, Atresmedia and Tve. Mediapro also has four shows in development with U.K. producers, says Laura Fernández Espeso, the Mediapro Studio co-head of TV.

Madrid — Mediapro, one of Europe’s biggest independent film-tv groups, has tapped Spanish writer-showrunner Diego San José, co-scribe of the smash-hit “Spanish Affair” movie franchise, to develop exclusive new TV fiction contents.
San José has previously been involved in two Mediapro projects, as co-writer and co-creator of political comedy “Vota Juan,” a co-production with Turner España aired on TNT, and co-writer of Borja Cobeaga’s “Fe de Etarras,” Netflix’s second original Spanish film, released in 2017.
He joins an already large list of content creatives tapped by Mediapro in recent years with the aim of strengthening its growing role as a key TV fiction powerhouse in Spain and the international market. That team takes in Emmy-winning Ran Tellem (“Homeland”), Iván Escobar (“Vis a vis”), Javier Olivares (“The Department of Time”), Marc Vigil (“Red Eagle”), Fernando González Molina (“The Boat”) and Daniel Burman (“Edha”), among dozens of other screenwriters and directors.

For 2018, Fantastic Fest played host to over 100 horror, sci-fi, and action-themed feature and short films, and Daily Dead had the opportunity to see numerous titles while in Austin for all the movie-related festivities. For today’s review round-up, here are my thoughts on the supernatural-driven tale of Indian horror, Tumbbad, the psycho-sexual thriller Cam, and Winston Azzopardi’s survival horror film (with a twist), The Boat.
Tumbbad: I feel slightly uncultured, but Tumbbad from directors Adesh Prasad and Rahi Anil Barve is my first foray into Indian genre filmmaking (save for some over-the-top clips from some ’80s movies I viewed in passing while at various Drafthouses over the years), but based on their efforts here, I’m an instant fan, and I hope Tumbbad leads to more projects for this directorial team, because they both prove that they have the chops to deliver lavish, concept-heavy themes without sacrificing all the...

Fantastic Fest 2018 Interview: Star and Co-Writer Joe Azzopardi on the Cinematic Journey of The Boat
While you may get some instant survival vibes when reading the premise of Winston Azzopardi’s The Boat, there are also some other genre elements at play that begin to reveal themselves the more time we spend upon the eponymous water vehicle, making The Boat a quietly surprising viewing experience.
While at Fantastic Fest 2018, Daily Dead caught up with Joe Azzopardi, the star and co-writer of The Boat, to discuss how this project evolved from a previous short film he had collaborated with his dad on, and how they came together for this feature project. Joe also discussed some of the physical challenges he faced during production, as well as finding ways to tap into his character, who has very minimal dialogue, but appears in every single scene of The Boat, which wasn’t an easy feat by any means.
I’m sure you’ve heard a few comparisons to Dead Calm so far,...

"I am sick of this game!" The first official trailer has launched for a creepy new sailing survival film titled simply The Boat, the feature directorial debut of producer Winston Azzopardi. Starring his own son Joe Azzopardi as the sailor, the film is about a captain who goes out to see and finds an abandoned vessel, but discovers there's something mysterious going on. He ends up locked inside the head of a sailboat which is heading at full steam on autopilot. Where to? There's only one way to find out. This looks creepy and very clever, a bit more than just another lost at sea sailing movie. This is premiering at Fantastic Fest later in the month, which is why this trailer has been released to build some buzz for its premiere there. Worth a watch. Exclusive: Here’s the first trailer for low-budget thriller The Boat, which will get its world premiere at Austin’s upcoming Fantastic Fest.
The well-sold feature was written by father-and-son team Winston and Joe Azzopardi, with the former directing and the latter starring in the movie. It follows a lone fisherman who boards an abandoned sailboat. Finding no signs of life, he emerges back on deck to discover that his own boat has disappeared, and a nightmarish journey ensues as he becomes imprisoned inside as the vessel presses on into unknown waters.
Deals have previously closed in France, Germany, Benelux, Scandinavia, Latin America, South Korea and more. Winston Azzopardi was a co-producer on Brad Pitt-starrer Troy.

Buster Keaton was a born showman, performing in his parents’ vaudeville act from the age of four as a “human projectile” who got thrown around stage like a dart — he even had a handle on his back. Despite that, “Old Stone Face” — who was far more expressive than that enduring moniker suggests — is said to have only gotten slightly injured twice in more than 10,000 childhood performances.
That’s just one of the facts offered by Peter Bogdanovich’s “The Great Buster: A Celebration,” a loving documentary tribute to the Silent Era icon that could have used more of his mischievous spirit. Keaton was an ahead-of-his-time innovator, and though Bogdanovich honors that legacy he doesn’t always live up to it: You’ll leave the film knowing more about its subject than you did when you walked in, but there’s little here that feels like it couldn’t be found...

Fantastic Fest 2018 is now about a month away, so it's time for the second wave of programming, which includes the North American premiere of Timo Tjahjanto's May the Devil Take You and the U.S. premieres of David Gordon Green's Halloween and Jeremy Saulnier's Hold the Dark. I'm probably most curious, though, about the world premieres in this round, including Bloodline, The Boat, Feral, Girls With Balls, Savage and Starfish. Will they emerge as unexpected discoveries in the midst of genre goodness from better-known filmmakers? Or disappear into the night? I hope for the former, but we shall see. The festival will be held in Austin, Texas, from September 20-27. Visit the official site for more information. Below is a list of the films in...

The fest, which kicks off on Sept. 20 and continues through Sept. 27, will also include the U.S. premiere of Jeremy Saulnier’s new psychological thriller Hold the Dark starring Jeffrey Wright, Alexander Skarsgård and Riley Keough. Gaspar Noe’s trippy fever dream of dance movie Climax will also make it’s U.S. premiere.

The Performer | J.K. Simmons
The Show | Counterpart
The Episode | “Shaking the Tree” (Feb. 18, 2018)
The Performance | Whereas the opening weeks of Starz’s Counterpart were largely plot-driven, Episode 5 slowed down a bit as Howard and Prime took closer stock of each other’s worlds — including the women in them. As they did, Simmons registered each man’s surprise, relief and, yes, disappointment.
As our Howard, Simmons communicated so much curiosity in his exchanges with the Prime Emily. You could tell, if he hadn’t come out and said as much, that he had so many questions for this other version of his comatose wife.
